It's grippy and quality
I'll start off with the dislikes because these things should be addressed.Dislikes: The main blade is lighter and smaller than I'd like. As someone with bigger hands and coming over from an EDC of an older Recon 1, the knife feels small in the hand making it feel awkward at times. Also the thumb opener on mine was loose, Benchmade told me to use some Blue Loctite which solved the issue. Overall, I preferred the opening method on my older EDC and the heavier blade made it easier to work with. The extra weight at the handle was probably needed to balance it out but it felt more comfortable in the hand.Likes: The blade is made of good steel and quite sharp—how it holds up to abuse is still to be tested, we're still honeymooning. The hook lets me strip someone "trauma naked" faster than using my sheers which is a big like. The G10 grip is a more aggressive grip than any knife I've owned prior—I'll get a random abrasion or superficial lac from the grip alone—which I don't mind because I could be using it double-gloved up or with slippery hands, it's made to work.Overall: I'd recommend this knife to anyone working EMS (and I have). If you have smaller hands (XS-M gloves), I'd imagine you'd find it even more comfortable in the hands as is. The hook is why I bought it and that works like a dream. I would still like to see the blade a little heavier and an increase on the handle of 1/2in or so. More so, I'd like to see the handle include an O2 wrench (metal and user-replaceable) but, given it's limitations, I can see why it'd be hard to include one—perhaps near the right side with the clip forward of the hook hinge but it's hard on a small handle (considering that it's not an exposed blade spine, I would not want to have to open the blade to turn on O2, handle only). So, a few small desires, but overall really happy. 4.7 out of 5

Great knife for Fire/EMS!
I've been a firefighter/paramedic for 10 yrs and have owned a slew of knives. Everything from Gerber to Spyderco to this. This knife functions flawlessly and fits this role. I got the modified sheepsfoot blade and not the blunt tip shown. The blunt tip is not necassary as the modified sheepsfoot prevents accidental puncturing very well and you still get a full blade. The blade itself is strong and have no doubt that it will hold up to hard use. To open design of handle allows for easy cleaning. Perfect for duty use as this knife has the potential to get pretty nasty. My version is the combo edge. With a blade of this size the combo edge works well if you have to cut rope. The axis lock is the same as any benchmade, awesome! Allows for quick deployment. No need to spend the extra money on the auto version! Haven't used the carbide glass breaker yet but I'm sure it would work in a pinch. Just make sure you're wearing gloves. The bevel blade is a real nice feature sets this knife apart from the rest. It's very sharp and cuts through clothing, seatbelts and restraints like butter. The bevel blade is actually part of the steal liner so it doesn't add any bulk or weight to the knife. Pretty cool design. The only reason I give this knife four stars and not five was because of the G-10 handles. They are too rough. I only carry this knife at work so don't mind if my work pants get tore up but I can see the scales on this wearing my pockets pretty good. However it does provide a good grip so keep that in mind. It's a small tradeoff. All in all I love this knife and recommend it to anybody who's in the business.RIP Houston Five.

Another home run for Benchmade!
This isn't your typical pocket knife. This is more of a tactical entry tool. With the flat tip of the blade, poking/piercing/stabbing is useless. If you want something that does that, get the 915 instead as it has the pointed blade. I have used the flat from as a screw driver and pry bar and it works great. The serrated blade is ver sharp and will cut just about anything. The hook blade will slice through 1/2" nylon rope like butter - and will cut seat belts and restraints with easy. I have not had the need to try the glass breaker on glass, but it does punch right through thin metal so I would assume it will work in a pinch. As with any a benchmade, you get what you pay for. While this is an expensive knife, the quality of craftsmanship is second to none. The quality of materials is top of the line and the axis opening is so simple and efficient. All in all, a great tactical entry/safety tool. Not sure I would use it over other tools designed for those purposes, but if none of them are available, this would do well as a backup. It will be a great addition to my vehicles emergency pack.

Great for anyone that Works as a First Responder
Bought this for my son who is a Rescue / Firemen and he carries it on himself all the time. Great carry essential for anyone working in that field.

Great emergency tool
Opens easy with one hand. The blade does have a twist in it. Works very nice as a pry bar. Blade cuts great. The hook and glass breaker work as advertised. Yes I open big boxes with metal staples. I have scraped the sharp ends of those staples across the black coating of the knife. No damage to the coating so far.
