Surprised
Was really surprised how large and what a great price I got the leaf net for. If you go to local pool store you will pay triple this price.

Good for price, time will tell
It works well to gather pool leaves but feels like it may snap any day now but it could just be me. The netting is very good and small particles get picked up, that comes with a cost that it’s harder to seamlessly move it through the pool. So it feels that there is a lot of drag and force being applied to it. But for the price it is a good value to have that large opening.

Near exact replacement for the 2008 version
Back in 2008 I bought my first and only skimmer net. It recently got a tear in the netting. The one I just received is almost an exact replacement comparing them side by side. I used to mold plastics so I'm familiar with the technology and design considerations. The changes are indicative of minor cost reductions on the mold tooling cost and the amount of plastic used in each assembly. Comparing the rigidity of the old versus new did not reveal a noticeable difference. Some reviewers seem to think the netting is glued onto the frame but it is not. The netting is molded into the frame permanently and will not come loose without tearing the netting. The visual appearance does not give a precision alignment of netting to frame but the netting is permanently embedded in plastic. Think of a candle wick inside a candle - it is completely encapsulated. Other reviews mentioned the cheap looking single pop-rivet holding the frame to the part that attaches to the extension pole. My original one had a slightly bigger pop-rivet but it did not fail in the last decade of use. However, a pop-rivet's durability are subject to proper installation by the factory worker. I would fully expect some % to be less than adequate. So far the new leaf rake has performed in the worst of the pool cleaning season - the dreaded "Leafpocalypse & Tasselmania" during Texas springtime by the numerous live oaks as they shed their leaves and drop pollen laden tassels for several weeks.4 Stars since they did make some minor changes that may change longterm performance - but so far so good.

My favorite
Since 2000, when we moved into this house with the pool, I have used three different types of skimming bags. Some had too flimsy netting, some had a week frame or were too small. This one is just the right size to work on the surface, but also the right shape to be able to scoot along the bottom of the pool and grab big leaves or earth worms who seem to like to commit suicide in our pool... go figure... yuck!Well, thanks to this scooper it's not a problem! I really love using it. With the curvature of the plastic rim, I can pull it along the side walls, on the surface, and the wake of the frame will chase any adhering leaves or flower petals to the middle, so that I can get them. To empty it, I just flip it over by turning the shaft, then shake the bag by rotating the shaft rapidly from left to right and back. That way, the bag gets a good shaking and everything falls out. It's a great value for the price! I recommend it! What more can one ask of a pool rake net?If you like my review, thanks for letting me know!

Gets the leaves and nothing falls out
Gets the leaves and nothing falls out after hurricane in, our pool in Florida was a disaster. Our flat net would pick up the leaves and then before we would get it to the surface the leaves would fall. So we invested in this deep pocket net. It’s perfect! Not only does it get all the leaves out, but it also got out all of the crabs, Blue crabs that were washed into our pool. So happy with this purchase!

Well.....
I would love to give this a 5 * review, but the only problem is the net tore after just a week of use. The use was typical and not heavy or overloaded. The netting is just not secured well enough in the plastic frame. At least it wasn't in mine. The tear started small but quickly became unusable after just a short time. Disappointing but not anything new. The net fits standard sized pool poles and has the typical white plastic snap for holding. These kinds of nets are a gamble and it just so happened mine was kind of a dud. Sorry.

Second purchase
Well this is the second time I’ve purchased this item and while it works great. The looking pins on this one seem to be very finicky looks like it’s a bit defective.

Poorly made
the net was sloppily attached to the frame. Will need to duct tape all along the edge so the net doesn't come off during use.
