Sumac 4.0 oz by Zamouri Spices

I had this spice on my rice years ago at a Persian restaurant in Tyson's Corner, VA called Shamshiry. I looked for it in the international section of every local grocery store and some asian groceries with no luck when I found it on Amazon and ordered it. It is lemony but more complex then lemon juice and has a wonderful color. It is amazing on fish, eggs, salad, avacado, even popcorn instead of salt. I'm going to try it on everything, and then I'm going to order some more.

I have been buying this brand of Sumac for some years now, since it is not readily available in my area. I find that Zamouri's Sumac has just the right tart flavor and perfect grind - not too fine, not too coarse. I will continue using this product. Thanks, Amazon for providing this product and others of this type.

This tastes like plastic. The Sumac I love has a mild citrousy bite and then a very mild finish. This starts off citrousy-plasticky and then the plastic flavor of the package overpowers that wonderful mild taste.Otherwise, the package arrived on time, undamaged, etc. This product has some of the best reviews for Sumac on Amazon so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm sad it didn't work out. I'm heading to a local spice shop for some good Sumac next time.

I love ground Sumac! Anyone who hasn't given it a go, should. There are so many dishes that are enhanced by this wonderful, unique ingredient.I have to say, though, that I was a little disappointed with this purchase. I have purchased elsewhere and burned through bags of the product, in no time, because it was so distinctive and so dish-enhancing, that it wasn't to be missed. This one has, unfortunately, gone languishing in the spice cabinet.This is definitely not an afront to Zamouri. I've purchased other items with success. I just think this one is missing something. Maybe it's an aged product? Who knows! But, it's just bland. I pick up some of the citrusy flavor, but not the sumac, itself, which is so interesting to the palate.

If you haven't cooked with Sumac, you need to try it. It is a staple middle eastern spice that has an almost lemon like flavor. It can be added to many things, but I really like to use it when broiling Salmon. Use salt, a little lemon juice, some brown sugar and sprinkle the sumac to cover the fish fillet. double wrap in tin foil to grill on both sides. Amazing.The packaging keeps it fresh and delivery was fast.

This was some good Sumac, not as strong as others I have bought from a local store but it is good and worth the money.

Very tasty- has that hint of lemon that makes for great middle-eastern food. Great with cucumber, tomato, and onion salad - really awesome in a Videlia dressing too and veggie dips too. Very glad I discovered this spice- think more Americans would find it pleasing if it were more widely available for them to try.Spice came fresh and fragrant, in a generous sized container.
