Works (Almost Too) Well

I want to forewarn you, this is a lonnnnggggg review. If you'll bear with me, though, hopefully you will find it worth reading. If not, my apologies in advance. :-)So far, I've only used dairy products in my slushy cup, not soda or juice. If I find I have more to add to this review, after I try using soda/juice, I will be sure to write an addendum. Also, at the bottom of this review, I will elaborate on which dairy products I've tried, my (so-called) 'recipes', how I pre-mix said dairy products, etc., in hopes that my experimenting will give other folks some ideas and/or save them time. The description for this ZUKU slushy cup claims one can make milkshakes with it. Well, that's true... sort of. It does, indeed, become the consistency of a milkshake, but only for a little while. As it continues freezing it becomes the consistency of soft-serve ice cream (actually, I prefer that over a milkshake) so, if you want a milkshake, you'll need to drink rather quickly, before it's too thick to drink. I estimate that it takes, perhaps, 8-10 mins until it reaches the soft-serve stage. It has been my experience that when I have an inch or so left in the bottom of the cup it becomes like frost on a windshield, stiffer than soft-serve ice cream but not really like your typical 'hard' (scoopable) ice cream. It's still tasty, of course, just frosty... literally. I'll warn you, too, that once it starts to freeze, if you don't continuously scrape the sides, it will freeze HARD and it will have to thaw some before you can scrap it off. So, be sure to keep rotating the cup and scraping!‐-----------------------------TIPS: 1) The cup will only hold about 8 oz at a time.2) To prevent the ingredients from freezing at different stages (when adding more than one liquid), I use an empty 16.9 oz water bottle to pre-mix my ingredients. That, also, allows one to make a double batch, either to eat/drink all in one sitting or to have some ready for the next time.3) If you want to use your mixture all in one sitting, when your milkshake/ice cream is about half gone, top it off and stir well. Keep stirring/scraping/eating, gradually adding the rest of your mixture until it's all in.4) I'm sure it goes without saying, the longer the cup is out of the freezer, the more slowly it will freeze your ingredients. I haven't had it NOT freeze all 16(-ish) ounces, but the last little bits are definitely softer than when the cup was colder.-------------------------------INGREDIENTS I'VE TRIED (very few, so far):The first 2 times I used flavored coffee creamer, half and half, and 2% milk* (which is what we happened to have on hand). The first time, using a 16.9 oz water bottle, I mixed 4(-ish) oz amaretto flavored creamer, 6-ish oz half and half, and 6-ish oz milk*.The second time, I used a tiny bit less (3-ish oz) flavored creamer (Irish Cream this time), a tiny bit more half and half (7-ish oz), and the same 6-ish oz milk. I couldn't taste the creamer as much as I prefer to so, in the future, I'll opt for quantities closer to what I used the first time. The third time (tonight), I used about 3T real coconut cream (I used Coco Re'al brand real cream of coconut because it's in a squeeze bottle, not a can), 4T whipped cream from a can (that's harder to measure because I sprayed it directly into the bottle, so 4T is just a 'guesstimate'), then I put in half and half to about 2" from the top, finally, I topped it off with milk, leaving enough space to be able to shake it all up. That mixture was REALLY good, but I might add just a touch more coconut cream, for more coconut flavor.I haven't tried this, yet, but one MIGHT be able to stir in small amounts of things like toffee bits, crushed peanuts, popping candy and so on. I want to try adding flavored extracts at some point, too. I recommend that you do as I have... experiment... use your imagination... and, most importantly, have fun!*Whole (vitamin D) milk will be a bit creamier, 1% a bit less, but I wouldn't recommend using skim. I don't know how well non-dairy products will freeze (or not freeze, as the case may be), so you'll need to find out by trial and error.‐-----------------------------UPDATE, Junex17, 2022I tried Minute Maid fruit punch (non-carbonated) in it. It 'slushed up' quite nicely and it didn't get over-frozen, like the dairy priduct(s) do. It was a perfect slush.----------------------------UPDATE, June 20, 2022:I tried Sprite in it last night. That's probably been my favorite. It does get a bit more stiff than a machine-type slush when you get close to the end but, still, it was VERY refreshing! I wish sugar-free drinks would work because I don't often drink sugared soda but, hey, it is what it is. I still say BUY IT if you want a slush cup that works well!

Awesome, work perfectly

These cups are fantastic and work exactly as described. The white inner cup comes out and stores in the freezer (you need to freeze it for a few hours before using), then when you want to use it, drop it into the red outer cup and add cold juice or soda (any sugary drink) and within minutes it starts to form the slushy. You use the provided spoon to continuously scrape down the sides and it keeps making slushy - if you don't scrape it the drink gets frozen to the edges a little too much. Kids love it and it's really easy to clean/dry/put back in the freezer for next time. I'm going to get this for my kids' friends for their birthdays - a perfect gift.

Works, easy to use, want another.

Works as advertised. I love slushies but didn't want to buy a dedicated countertop machine. This was a happy surprise to find.

Works well enough with non-diet sodas and foresight

Easy to use. The consistency/texture of the icee isn't quite right (compared to what you'd get at a gas station or something). You won't really be able to drink it with a straw, in my experience, and will have to "eat" it with the scraper spoon. But it's close enough to scratch the itch! This is actually the 2nd one of these that I've bought. The first one stopped working randomly after ~3 years of consistent use. Not sure if the freezing liquid inside the cup went bad or if I damaged it somehow. But I liked it well enough and it lasted long enough that I replaced it, so there you go!A couple notes:-You have to have it in the freezer all day or all night (~8 hours) before it's cold enough to work, so you might be out of luck when you have a sudden craving for an icee, but that's to be expected. I just try to use it, wash and dry it, and stick it back in the freezer immediately. I've had no issues caused by leaving it in the freezer for days (or even weeks) at a time.-It only works with non-diet sodas. If you put a diet soda in, the edges will freeze solid and the middle will be fully liquid.

I’m enjoying it

Works perfect. Should have an option for a second liner at a discount because it takes several hours to be ready to use again.

Love this cup

This cup is amazing! I give them out as a birthday gift to all my kid’s friends. They all love them. We love putting juice, lemonade and occasionally soda in these cups.

Great for cold drinks

Great product.

It works really good. I love frozen Coke, and this delivers.Only drawback is it doesn't make allot of frozen. Still better than a $200 unit.
