Dual Frequency IR Receiver This is needed only if you have a HD Cable or Satellite receiver that opperates at a higher frequency then normally found. We have seen that some cable boxes like the SA HDTV DVR's and DirectTV H21. This product is designed and tested to work with the Hidden IR repeater systems that we sell. To use just replace the receiver that came with the Hidden Ir system with this Dual Frequency IR Receiver.

Not compatible
This receiver is not compatible with my IR repeater box. My box runs off of a 12 VDC (Volts DC) power supply, but converts it to 5 VDC for use in the receiver ports. What this products details fail to mention is that this receiver runs off 12 VDC. I'm sure it is a great receiver if you have a 12 VDC system, unfortunately mine is not. Details: Tip = signal, Ring = GND, Sleeve = +12VDC.UPDATE: I tried to return this IR receiver via Amazon return policy, but I got an email back from Unique Products Online that says (I'm copy & pasting here):----------Under the product description it says.Product DescriptionThis is needed only if you have a HD Cable or Satellite receiver that operates at a higher frequency then normally found. NOTE - Works with our IR repeaters and Wall Plates This is needed only if you have a HD Cable or SatelliteSo as you can see by the note this only works with our IR systems----------So as you can see, they will not let me return the product. I've worked on electronics on a component level for a number of years and one thing I've learned is that information is the key to a successful project. If they will not provide the necessary information, maybe someone can stumble across my review and find some useful information. Buyer beware when buying this IR receiver. Downgraded from 2 to 1 star.

This is an amazing deal
I had a problematic situation with my Sony LCD where no IR receiver would work, I would get nasty IR interference for many minutes at a time. I have used two different Xantech IR receivers, used all sorts of hacks, like covering the IR receiver in paper or tape, moved the receiver to different location, etc. and was about to throw in the towel and purchase an expensive RF system when I stumbled on this product. I figured for $15, I would give it a try. Hoo boy am I glad I did! This receiver plugged right into my xantech block and works with all of my devices, but best of all, no more IR interference!!!!! It's like night and day, seriously. If you need an IR target/receiver, this is the one to get.

Must have for A/V systems using IR repeaters
I was having trouble finding the right IR receiver to work in CFL/LCD/Plasma environments and working with the Philips RCMM IR protocol on the Motorola VIP1200 and VIP1216. If you do research there are only two major companies (Niles Audio and Xantech) that claim to have IR receivers that work with this newer IR protocol. Both of these products are great but a bit expensive for anyone on a budget. My setup:Xantech 78944PSRP One Zone Four Source Connecting Block Including Power supplyXantech 282 Designer EmittersCAT6 STP, Solid, In-Wall Rated (CMG), 550MHzHDTVHookup Dual Frequency IR ReceiverThis receiver will pick up signals from a remote from distances > 30' over CAT6 that is over 100' from the connecting block.

Great Product
I tried about 5 different infrared receivers before settling on this unit. It works with every remote from a Scientific Atlanta DVR to a Harmony 880 even to a oddball JVC that the Harmony doesn't even like to work with.My only complaints:-A bit pricey (you get what you pay for!)-Angle of receive. Isn't huge but if your outside of it you probably can't see the TV anyway. My biggest rave is that it's ALMOST immune to interference. A previous unit would not work when placed anywhere near my LCD. This unit works fine. I even have one in the garage under FLUORESCENT LIGHTS and while it's distance is severely limited it does work!

IR receiver
Product did as it described. I Bought it to work with the high freqency of the Digital set top box that I have from my cable company. It produces a bright blue led flash when a signal is recieved, which is great because it lets me know that it did get the signal. If it becomes a problem, simple fix is a piece of black electrical tape and now no more blue light... Mine sits in the between my wii sensor bar and works greats. Can't complain.possible thinking of buying another one for the bedroom!

No information on compatibility.
This receiver does not work with my Harman Kardon DVD player. Too bad.I have a wall mounted TV and keep my DVD in the closet behind it, leaving a nice uncluttered setup that is unfortunately IR unfriendly. When I noticed my DVD player has an IR receiver jack, I looked for one. Not wanting to pay for the OEM, I settled on this one, given the positive reviews that seemed to indicate compatibility with a wide range of products. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with mine. Guess I'll replace my DVD player with a gaming system. (Gaming remotes use radio frequencies ...)

it works fine. I used a Xantech connecting block with this ...
Yes, it is a 12VDC receiver. I found this out after I received the unit also. It will not run from a 5VDC connecting block. If you have a 12VDC connecting block, it works fine. I used a Xantech connecting block with this and it works fine.

Works perfect for my need
I'm connecting this to the Leviton 40839-SWS which is connected to about 100 foot run of Cat5e to extend IR to several components stored in A/V cabinet over the Sewell Infrared-IR Remote Control Repeater. Works quite well.
