Is this rope long enough for a 6 foot tall guy to use?

It is long enough for a 7 foot tall guy. I had to cut almost a quarter off so I could use it comfortably.

Will this last at all? the last fitness rope i bought was amazon choice and a hunk of junk.

Mine has held up quite well. The bearings, handles and rope are in very good shape. For context, I've had the rope for about 1 year. I use it at least 2 to 3 times a week, primarily as a warm up exercise of about 3 minutes. I have only used the rope indoors - wood or rubber flooring. The quality has been very good.

does the rope pass through ball bering carticges in the handles?

No. But there is a mechanism inside to shorten or length.
