Please read the following instructions carefully before installing your key safe. Always wear goggles or other suitable eye protection before starting to drill. You will need 2 x Thunderbolts included Drill 5mm Masonry Drill Bit Eye Protection Marker / Pencil Tape Measure Roll of Tape 1. Your key safe should be carefully positioned so it is hidden from view. 2. Select a flat area of wall in an area where you can drill into brick. 3. Using the pre-drilled holes on the safe as a template, mark 2 x hole positions on the wall. 4. The holes that secure the thunderbolts must be drilled to at least 50mm, using a 5mm drill bit. 5. Position your key safe over the holes, insert the screws and hand tighten. YOUR KEY SAFE BEFORE INSTALLING THE KEY SAFE Select your combination for the key safe. Each number in a combination can only be used once. It is recommended that you do not use a number combination that can be easily guessed. Avoid numbers linked to your telephone number or birthday. Do not use a bank card PIN number as this may breach your financial security should someone determine the combination to your key safe. Use a unique number that only you will know between three and six numbers inclusive. Take a photo on your phone or record it on the Combination Protector Card included; this should be safely stored so that in the unlikely event that you forget your combination it can be located and used to access your keys. SETTING YOUR COMBINATION STEP 1 To set the combination for the first time, slide the clear button down to reset the number buttons. Slide down the ‘open’ button and remove the lid, which will separate from the safe entirely. STEP 2 Unscrew and remove the white plastic cover on the inside of the key safe door. This will reveal 10 dials numbered 1 to 0 with arrow indicators. There is no preset combination so all the arrows should be facing towards the words ‘SET OFF’. Numbers correspond to the buttons on the front of the lid. STEP 3 Using a the provided tool, set each digit of your desired combination. To do this, simply place the tool into the dial groove, apply light pressure and rotate 180°. You should be able to feel the dial click into place. The arrow should now be facing downwards towards the words ‘SET ON’. Repeat for each number in your combination. STEP 4 Reattach the plastic cover, inserting and tightening the screw. I was surprised at how easy to use and effective the included thunderscrews are. Just do as the nice people say - make sure the drill holes are deep enough. Setting the code is also very straightforward, a small screwdriver is way less fiddly than the small key thing supplied. Checking the latch operation before fitting the door to the lock is an obvious step. This is a very compact and unobtrusive device. The rubber cover makes it look more like an electrical cover than a key safe. My 70mm long door key is a very tight fit. I don't think it would take anything larger. I have always just hidden a key outside and saw this as a mild security improvement as it is also well hidden. It is not claimed to be high security and it certainly isn't. I doubt it woud survive a determined attack for long. The body appears to be made of the same metal as an old Dinky toy. If you want somewhere handy to hide a key without being obvious this is perfect, but if you want proper security blow some more dosh on a properly rated key safe. Beware though, I did spot a couple of key safes on desertcart which claim to be 'Police approved' but with no certified rating. I can only think that their local Community Support Officer looked at them and said 'They're nice'. Review: Heavy metal - Had to use heavier screws and used some strong glue too to be sure, but, that said, the safe is very robust. My inner porch door has a long key, so I probably should have gone for a larger capacity safe. Also I made error of positioning beside downpipe with grate beside and had to cover that to prevent posibility of keys falling through!! This safe has a separate weather cover and the keypad comes off too. I love the number pad instead of rolling the numbers round. Suggest squirting some WD40 in via the gap at the top. **Q: Can you change the pin and if so how?** A: If you are referring to the "Pin Number", Yes you can. Open the door and remove it using the current pin number. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the White Cover plate on the back of the door. The current 4 numbers (Black plastic adjusters behind the white cover) will have been rotated 180°. You can tell as the "4 Rotated (selected) black numbers" will have the "Arrow" pointing down. Using the tool supplied or a small flat screwdriver you can rotate those 4 back to point Up (in the same direction as the unrotated 6 numbers). When they all point up you can rotate your 4 new pin numbers to point down. CAUTION Once done - Replace the White Cover First ! ! ! Replacing the door without the White cover may lock it and you wont be able to open it ! ! ! Then check it opens properly WITHOUT fitting to the key safe case.
