I bought the "reactangle" + "green" options.Yes, there is a small delay before the digit updates, and it doesn't update while the clutch is being held, but those aren't the times that I need to check it. And it does work perfectly with clutchless up/down shifts. The only issue I had with it is the 7 Segment display not having any dimming. That makes it a little difficult to read the digits during the day/when well lit. The stickers it comes with are completely transparent over the LED segments; so they don't help at all with this problem. I fixed this by purchasing a smoke lens specifically for 7 Segment displays (pictures attached); you could probably also use the screen from an LED alarm clock, or old film or something, to the same effect. Once the display is filtered this indicator is -perfect-! Reasonably priced and functional. I just don't understand why the digit wasn't windowed, that's a very standard thing to do.

Very limited usability
I'll start by explaining what this really is:This device will receive some limited information as an input from the motorcycle; engine rotation and wheel speed. It will then convert this ratio into a numeric form to be displayed for the rider in form of 1-6 to be interpreted as gears. It won't show 0 but a dash because it can't get any ratio for ZERO (neutral). This being said, all the discussion about "Clutch sensor" (being broken or not, being existent or not) is plain stupid. There is no clutch sensor as there is no gear sensor and there is also no information available at the access point of any clutch sensor activity. The fact is that if your clutch slips, the ratio will show different numbers (not numbers the device can work with). Moving ahead, what does it do?It will show what gear your motorcycle is in, after doing the ratio calculation (about one second later); as soon as you pull the clutch it will show a dash because it's out of usable data. Wrapping it up, the ONLY functionality of this device is to know in which gear you are, in preparation of cornering (sometimes at lower speeds it can get confusing between 4th and 5th or 5th and 6th) so this info can be useful if you lost your counter (the counter in your head, that would be). People need to be aware of the fact that as soon as the clutch is pulled, it won't show any numbers and this is due to the fact that it is confused by the data, not because of some miraculously "clutch sensor", which prevents it from showing numbers. This is as well the reason why it only shows numbers while spinning wheels (it needs that data in order to come-up with a number). Some might find it "cool", some might use it for what I just explained and others might not find any use for it...To the seller:I got my FIRST unit and installed it according to the "manual" (which is a joke, btw.). It did not work; next I went to read the Q&A and discovered that the seller responded at some questions, inviting customers to "contact them first"... So I did and two days later, the answer was that my "clutch sensor" is broken... LOL My bike has 2200 mi on the counter and a clean bill of health... In the meanwhile, I ordered a second unit and it worked as described. After that I started the return process and I will have to drop-off the bad one. Woulden't it be more honest to admit failure and just say: Send it back and you will get another one - hand tested?

It’s Easy To Install, Bright And Priced Right
This is a great addition to the Vulcans with no indicator. Kawasaki has a few ports reserved on the bike for accessories (I believe 4). The one I used is under the seat. On the European models, this is where the restriction is, so you’d probably want to put it here too.I mounted it on the left side of the tach housing, putting the tape on the right side of the indicator. I ran the cable along the bottom of the gas tank where other cables were and back to the connector under the seat. I didn’t need to remove anything to install it other than the seat to access the connector.I was surprised how bright it is - very easy to read in the daytime. It reads the bike’s ECU, so there’s a small delay before it changes to your current gear. It will do so after you begin releasing the clutch. If you downshift several gears while keeping the clutch in until you come to a stop, it will display whatever gear you were in when you started downshifting, not 1st. When you release the clutch to start moving, it will then display 1. Neutral reads 0.Considering the ease of installation and the price this is selling for, I’d definitely recommend getting one. Most times I’m aware of what gear I’m in, but sometimes lose track, so that’s when this is handy. Also, sometimes I take off in 2nd gear. On the Vulcan, if you’re at a stop in 1st gear, you can’t shift to 2nd, only neutral, so I have to stop at 2nd gear when downshifting and stopping. That’s when this indicator will be helpful. Would buy again.
