O.E. Replacement
For some reason, the big box home improvement stores do not carry this part. Neither do the hardware stores. I spent an entire day looking. They all have the 2 inch version, but not the 3 inch. All I could find out there was a 3 inch “universal replacement”. It does not work for this application. Amazon came through again! I ordered another just to have on hand for next time.

It works to stop leak at flapper
As much as I dislike overpaying for a product, I did so in this case, since my local hardware stores did not have this in stock. I installed it and it worked to stop the slow leak past the previous flapper, which was an Am. St. original one that lasted barely 2 years! In my case, I removed the so called float (flapper open time extender), since it essentially did nothing. I merely hold down the tank lever for a couple more seconds, and that does the job. It is quite important to remove most of the slack from the chain when installing. This does make a difference in performance.

Sturdy, well made
Had to return it because it was the wrong size, but that can't mean I didn't notice how well made it was...will definitely last a good long while...worth the price.

Buy this if you own a Standard toilet.
Bought a replacement at a local hardware. It was the right size but didn't seat correctly. This one is original equipment and works perfectly. You get what you pay for and nothing fits like the original.

Solves the sticky flapper problem in certain American Standard toilets
We have an American Standard Cadet 3 flowise (1.2 gpf) about 10 years old. Flappers on these are made of a hard plastic that, as it ages, loses its flexibility and then it loses its ability to rotate properly on the toilet valve assembly. So you end up with a flapper stuck in the open position and the toilet just runs at full blast (which can be a very expensive problem).Anyway replacing the flapper solves the problem hopefully for another 10 years. You pull the old flapper off (not easy, it's stiff) and then just snap the new one in.
