TL:DR: If you are looking for a well-made little plastic gizmo for covering the top of a soda can, this product is a solid choice. It does a better job than the generic brand I tried and they should last forever if you don't lose them. Overthought review: I accidentally bought these (Beverage Barricade 2.0 by Avant Grub) and also the sponsored generic brand that Amazon put at the top of the search results. (I know, it's a weird mistake, please don't judge.) These cost twice as much as the generic ones but they're so much better that I think the higher price is justified. I will use these a lot more often than the cheap ones because they're better at doing their job. I'll keep the generic ones in my purse in case I need one on the go. The generic brand is inexpensive enough that it's not worth the effort to return them, and they work ok. They're just not great. -- Both this and the cheaper generic brand will work just fine to keep out typical flying bugs at a picnic. -- They both open a soda can easily, so both would be suitable for people who need help with that. -- The Beverage Barricade snaps down against the lip of the can with a satisfying click, fitting flush against the can. The generic ones are made of slightly thicker plastic that doesn't lock onto the can very well, leaving a small gap. So the Beverage Barricade would do a better job of keeping sand or small ants out of your drink. (I did not put my drink down on an ant hill to test this.) -- Both work on narrow soda cans and standard sized ones. I have not tried them on "mini" size cans. -- Both would leak if your cat knocked your drink off the table. But the looser-fitting generic ones would make a much bigger mess. -- The Beverage Barricade does a better job of keeping the fizz in your drink. It's not air-tight, so the drink will lose its bubbles eventually, but it works great for keeping a carbonated beverage from going flat in the fridge overnight. -- These have a hole on the handle so you could put them on a keychain or a hook to store them. The generic ones do not. -- These came packaged on a card (as pictured in one of the manufacturer's photos), labeled as BPA free, phthalate free, food-grade plastic, and dishwasher safe. The generic ones were loose in an unmarked zip-top bag. -- Avant Grub is a US based company. The generic brand is ??? -- These have the instructions "lift" and "push" embossed on them. The generic ones are blank.

These make opening beer or soda cans so much easier. Then you slide it around to keep bugs out. Nice color choices and they are durable. My

They work. Easy to slide on and open a can. Easy to slide closed to keep bugs out. A 3rd feature that I found to be helpful is that when I knocked over a can, it didn’t spill as much as it would have without the cover. To be clear, it does not keep it from spilling, just doesn’t spill as much.

These nifty things come in handy when drinking a canned beverage, helps keep the bugs out. I do wish when it was “closed” that it actually sealed shut in order to keep overnight if you didn’t finish the beverage. But we do use them often especially when we’re outside.

These are the best idea ever! They work on regular size cans and smaller cans (although they don't lock closed on the smaller cans) making it easy to open without breaking a nail, keeping insects out, and making it easy to identify one's own beverage. We used sharpies to write initials on the "LIFT" portion of the tab during a large party and folks always could find their beverage.

I am a Diet Pepsi addict, a few years ago my sister gave me one of these tabs. Now I absolutely must have one with me at all times. Bought my first 12 after trying the one. Gave a bunch away to family and friends telling them how great these are!!! About a week ago I was down to just one and ordered more, mistakenly ordering another brand which was cheaper, included more and looked EXACTLY like these. Had to return them because they didn’t snap on to the rim of the can. THIS BRAND IS THE BEST!!!!!! I can pop one on an unopened can of diet Pepsi throw it in a bag or my purse whatever in the tab stays put doesn’t pop off so when I take it out to open it, it is still there! It snapped tightly to the rim of the can completely and 100% blocking any dust debris, bugs, etc.! Not to mention that it keeps my diet Pepsi from going flat which it does easily in my opinion. I never open or drink a can without one of these doesn’t matter if I’m in the house, car, work or outside doesn’t matter. If you buy these, you will absolutely not regret it! No other brand on Amazon compares to these.

Ordered a 12 pack. There was 6 barricades per package sleeve. One of the sleeves was clearly opened and taped back together. The barricade was used and and showed discoloration were it was bent. Second sleeve was fine. There needs to be product control to ensure that customers are not receiving used items.

I like how easy these tap openers are to place and seal. While it does not prevent the natural flattening of sodas like a sealed cap would, it does an excellent job of keeping a lid on your drink. It makes me feel more secure with drinking soda cans, because I can close the opening and prevent insects from invading my drink.
