Good Power Hand Mic
These are good hand mics for the price. I purchased this after borrowing one that was pretty beat up from a friend and having a good experience with it. It takes a 9V battery and works well out of the box. After driving around and listening to my wife talk on it and the other one, I've concluded that these are probably one of the better power mics available. They are noticeably much louder and clearer than a stock hand mic. I decided to try one of these because I purchased a DM-452 echo mic, and borrowed a 2nd one from a friend, and although they're decent mics, they are bad to squeal under certain conditions. These Cobra/Highgear power mics work well even with the power dial turned down pretty low or all the way up, and don't squeal like the DM-452 mics do. There might be better hand mics out there, but for $16 this is a great sounding mic that appears to be built well and came with a 4 pin plug already attached so I didn't have to worry about soldering my own connector on. I'm rating this 5 stars because I've now used two of these mics of different ages on different radio setups and had comparably good results from both of them, even though the older one has been dropped and beat up enough to dent the wire mesh and break some of the plastic off.If you're looking for a good power mic without having to spend half as much as you paid for the radio itself, this is an option you should really consider.

Amazing microphone for a good price (after mods).
Before I bought this microphone I read the reviews that people left here in amazon and that made me buy it to try the mods and make it rocks as stated. Now that I have it, tested it and modified it, I can say all you can read in the reviews is true.New from factory, and set in 10 (max gain) this mike was better than the original mike of my Midland 1001z but not amazing, so I googled the fix("Cobra HG M75 Power Mic fix/upgrade (+20dB gain)"), followed the instructions and transformed this not surprising mike in an Amazing one, it really make you sound louder in the air, very good reports from friends, they noticed the incredible power it deliver after the mods, now I have to use it in 4 (gain adjustment) and that is enough to make your voice rocks in the air, more than 4 will make you sound extremely loud, that's nice, more power than needed. Now I can put the mike 50 centimeters away from my mouth and still make it loud, good sensitivity. If you have a basic knowledge of electronics and soldering and you do not want to spend a lot of money in a great mike, buy this unit and make the mods!.The cable is long enough and allows you to softly extend it for more reach. Also, its design is like from aeronautic devices, it really looks good, inside the electronics components are standard and the workmanship is not the best, so I took some time more to resolder wires.Bottom line, I recommend this mike and recommend to do the mods to get an amazing microphone for a good price.I am very happy with it.Michael VíquezHeredia, Costa Rica.

lasted 6 months?-come on
Worked well for 6 months then stopped keying the radio although the mic light on mic turns red from the 9v battery there is NO transmit to the radio. I regret buying it and throwing away the stock mic that worked ok but at least it did work

Cobra power mic
I use one daily in my Kenworth W900L and it’s my favorite mic out of the 10 or so mics ive gone through in the last 25 years. When my stock cobra mic took a dump in my pickup it was an easy choice to grab this mic for my personal truck, decided to upgrade my antenna to a Wilson little wil. A great antenna if you’re looking. Seller was hassle free and shipped pretty quick. Great price for this mic, you can’t go wrong

cobra M75 review
Over the last couple of years there has been a lot of talk and posting about this microphone: that its performance right out of the box is substandard and that one will need to modify the circuitboard to really make it work correctly. But I decided to buy this mic. as an upgrade for the little Uniden Bearcat 680. (An inexpensive mic. for an inexpensive radio, you know.) If it didn't perform well, I figured I'd make the necessary corrections. For the price it would be worth it.This mic. worked great right from the start. The power settings go from 0 to 10. A setting of 4 gave full modulation and a superb signal with this radio! It gives solid contacts with units over ten miles away in suburbia.So...what's the deal? Is it a good mic. or a piece of junk? I think the M75 is a good mic.; certainly for the money. But I have noticed that most of the negative postings date from around two years ago. Perhaps Cobra has fixed an initial problem and it is no longer a concern. But an equal possibility is that this mic. works better with some radios than with others. It does not appear to be a problem with the new 80 series SMT radios from Uniden. It may be just one of those things where one tries it and if it works, fine. If not, then modify it if you feel capable. Either way I think it is a good deal for upgrading the signal of any radio at a very reasonable price.
