I’m a bit partial towards PDA because it isn’t too nutrient rich as to select more for unwanted molds. The Evviva PDA broth powder worked great for me. The instructions were straightforward and the powder readily suspended in solution well.If you’re new to this hobby you’ll add the volume of distilled water to a media bottle/glass jar. Add the measured amount of PDA powder and stir. I like to heat up the mixture in the microwave uncovered for about 20s or so to keep the agar from solidifying. After that, place the lid on and keep it loose, add autoclave tape and foil around the lid. Lastly, autoclave or pressure cook at 121C with 15 psi for 15-20 minutes once at pressure. This good quality media is effective for growing a multitude of micology projects. Once I use I up, I’m likely to acquire it again.

Well this is easier than peeling, cutting and boiling potatoes! Anything to help me focus on the work I’m there to do, grow mushrooms, not cook potatoes. This product goes a long way, makes well over a gallon of good potato broth.

I own a gourmet mushroom farm, so I always need ingredients for petri dish work. I decided to take a risk on this PDA because the value was so good. I am happy to report that it works like all other PDAs that I have tried in the past which is exactly what anyone would expect.

My husband does science experiment videos and he got this potato dextrose broth to grow cultures in test tubes. Seems to be good quality, he got agar powder from the same company Evviva Sciences and it was good. You have to cook the mixture before using, make sure you have plenty of ventilation while boiling.
