TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Paint gives aluminum and galvanized metal boats a corrosion-resistant, non-reflective low-sheen finish. TotalBoat is specifically formulated for aluminum, making it ideal for your jon boat, duck boat, flat bottom boats, bass boats, canoe, dinghy, pontoon boat, trailers, houseboats, and other aluminum boats or boat parts, such as railings and spars. It also comes in camo colors that you can apply one layer at a time for a custom camouflage pattern to improve concealment in natural settings. Or mix colors for a more realistic blend for your particular hunting or fishing area to conceal your duck or hunting blind, tree stands and ladders. Use on etch-washed metal as a topcoat or as a primer and apply the topcoat of your choice. Using an etch wash cleaner on aluminum and other difficult-to paint metals removes corrosion and improves paint adhesion. This easy-to-use water-based polyurethane can be applied directly to prepared substrates with a brush, roller or spray gun. You'll also finish faster because Aluminum Boat paint dries extremely fast; overcoat in just 1 hour at 72 degrees F without sanding between coats. Before the final coat, wait 12 hours, sand lightly and remove residue. Review: As a professional painter this stuff - As a professional painter this stuff Is next to non with painting aluminum. Be prepared to use a lot more product when rolling and brushing versus spraying with a gravity/hvlp sprayer. I use this regularly for aluminum projects. The trick is many thin coats. You’ll regret promptly trying to rush it with heavies. I recently painted my pop up camper outside of many other jobs I used it. Prepare the surface; I tend to power wash - with a tornado head - the surface with a pre soak of a healthy amount of tsp. Check out the photos! Came out great I prepped the surface with a heavy solution of tsp, sanding in some areas, removing all stickers and vinyls ( because the product won’t adhere to glossy plastic finishes) I primed all rust with a specific rust primer I primed the entire aluminum surface lightly with with stix primer (the tan color) for better bonding as there were other substrates outside of aluminum. Painted her up and haven’t had any issues yet. Looks great! I’ve since passed the camper on to a group of young guys traveling out to Colorado to do a road trip skying and snowboarding. The camper is going strong the product is holding up phenomenally!

Worked best with the "roll and tip" technique where I rolled the product in about 2 foot sections and the wife followed with just the tip of a 4 inch paint brush to smooth the surface thus eliminating the orange peel finish caused by the roller. As others have noted the roll and tip technique requires multiple thin "build" coats and a final coat. A little paint goes a long way so keep the coats thin. Very happy with the product and the final result. Durability is to be determined but the 25 year old boat looks like new.

As a professional painter this stuff Is next to non with painting aluminum. Be prepared to use a lot more product when rolling and brushing versus spraying with a gravity/hvlp sprayer. I use this regularly for aluminum projects. The trick is many thin coats. You’ll regret promptly trying to rush it with heavies. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A very smooth finish with a brush

I sanded down 18 years of water deposits and algae growth on my 20 ft pontoon boat - then applied 3 coats of this marine paint on both pontoons and the splitter. Very easy to apply and it stayed wet just long enough for all the brush marks to smooth out - the boat looked like new. Good coverage - used 3 quarts of the 4 I ordered. After sitting in the lake for a month or so - I can see some algae growing on the pontoons - but it fairly easy to wipe off at this point.
