Q: does this chime work with arlo video doorbell..? thanks.

Some customers say that it would work with video doorbells, but we cannot guarantee this.

Q: Can this be connected to 120v without a transformer?

This item needs to be connected to a 24VAC power supply. Most houses have a 24VAC transformer installed....especially if there is central Air/heating. This is because the control system and thermostat run on 24VAC. Usually, they run a set of wires off of this transformer to power the door-bell (Chime) system. The location of this transformer is usually placed near the Air/Heating system...if not installed inside the unit itself. If needed, you can run a set of wires off this transformer and route it to the front door.

Q: Is this necessary to install for a ring doorbell pro? Or will just having a transformer suffice?

The door bell chime device (inside the house) should have both the transformer and Ringer.

Q: Will this chime work with the Ring 1st Generation video doorbell?

I’ve had my Ring Gen 1 hardwired to my Newhouse CHM3D doorbell for almost 2 years and it works perfectly! Not a single issue.
