Great Reference
Received this book last week. I had been doing quite a bit of research lately on weathering models. I've been building for about 65 years. My first kit s Strombecker wood F-86. Anyway, I have lot's of building time but most before all of the more current exotic techniques and products were available. Even now reading Jimenez, Wilder, and other experts, I find myself overwhelmed by the creative process. BUT, Shep Paine gave me hope. He explains various techniques in a fashion that an old hat like me can feel comfortable with. Everything doesn't have to be perfect and there is no particular right way to most anything. Makes me feel good. By the way, for the avid detailist and accuracy types, I recommend Adam Wilder's books. So, this reference book covers just about every aspect of armor modeling. The weathering techniques can be applied to other subjects too. My initial approach was to skim through the topics. Then I delve in more to learn about specific issues. After that it's a constant reference depending on my current building interest. This is an excellent book at a reasonable price. Plenty of pics and easy reading. Highly recommended.

Excellent guide to modeling armored vehicle subjects, by one of the world's greatest modelers.
Military vehicles in combat wear severely and quickly in operations and modelers strive to show that accurately in their models. It isn't just paint, rather it's appropriate, realistic weathering and building them as a snapshot in time. Shep Paine's book guides a modeler in how to show that operational condition, adding that wear and tear to your models. A high quality publication with color images with black & white illustrations as well.

Some new and some old bit a good buy all around
This is another good book from finescale. There was a bit of re used stuff from the how to make dioramas version from the late 90's. That being said for the price it is a good investment. I mostly build aircraft but want to do some armor and this provides a number of good tips and tricks. Shep Paine will be missed I have admired his builds since I can remember...

This is the quintessional American go to reference
Shep Paine won awards and almost created the art of dioramas in the US. Best here is faces which are hardest for me. Parts on a tank. (Dozens of boxes of tank tools areburied at a formerUS base in Japan brand new from that minor conflict in SEA). Great deal lots of photos and exp!anations. 144 pp. Kalmbach

Excellent Book - Highly Recommended!
This is an Excellent Modelling book. It contains updated info from his classic books, and a wealth of new info, and is compiled and written by people who knew and loved Shepard Paine, truly one of the best Modellers ever. - Also, lately I have purchased and read several of these armor modelling guide type books, and this one honestly stands out as one of the best even amongst those such as the Osprey Masterclass series (which I also highly recommend). Clear, concise, and enjoyable to read and look at. Highly Recommended for the beginner to the advanced modeller. Happy Modelling:)
