Fantastic patterns and useful UK terminology
This book is a little gem. I bought it a couple of years ago and due to life commitments didn't really have the time to tackle the projects. Now, due to the pandemic situation, I have found I have a lot of time so I picked up crochet again. Up to 2 months ago I would have considered myself to be a beginner. Now, I have already completed 5 of the patterns including the more difficult Paintbox Palette shawl (which, by the way, doesn't have any pattern mistakes like another reviewer mentioned!). The author's instructions are very clear and in UK terminology which is a blessing and I personally find all the patterns gorgeous! The yarns that are used in the book can be quite expensive however, it is very easy to find substitutes and so I have done for most projects, i.e. bought much cheaper yarns that worked very well nonetheless (for instance, the yarn for the Paintbox Palette project is discontinued but I have used a pretty cheap, gorgeous multicolour 30% wool yarn instead and it worked just perfect). Would definitely recommend to beginners and intermediate crocheters. It has worked fantastically well for me as I have built my skills steadily and I think now I am way past my days as a beginner. However, very experienced crocheters who like a challenge might find the patterns a bit repetitive and boring I guess.

I like it!
I received this book only today to at this point I'm writing about my first impressions. I haven't actually tried the patterns yet.I paid less than four pounds for this book and I think at this price it is a bargain. It is written in UK terms and has written instructions only, no charts (shame but none of the patterns look too complex so I think it's OK).I really like the variety and amount of "tips" that are given throughout the book. They are great pointers for beginners and even though I'd consider myself an advanced crocheter they are great reminders of simplifying your work.I agree that some of the projects are a bit dated however I don't mind that at all. There is a large variety of stitches and ideas in this book that already inspired my crochet brain. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to my next project.I don't regret my purchase so far!

Very happy with my purchase. I love 90 percent of patterns in this book. They are simple but really stylish designs. I am sure this book will keep me busy for a while :)********************************************************Note to Amazon: Thank you very much for delivering promptly especially in these challenging times but I must point out I wasn’t impressed the way the book was folded in 2 in order to go through the letterbox. I would appreciate if it could be left by the door in the future. Thank you, again.

Great Value
A nice book with full colour pictures of every shawl and the patterns look clear and easy to understand -although I haven't made anything yet. There are 35 patterns and probably something for everyone. There are 15 shawls I would choose to make from this book while the others in my opinion vary from hideous to ridiculous. Overall however I would recommend this crochet book as it's great value with a few really nice shawls to try. A good one to add to the collection.

Beautiful book!!
I love making shawls and throws, and I love getting new books. I don't think I've ever left a review on Amazon before though! This book arrived today and it is fab! Loads of beautiful patterns that all have been skill graded so there's something for everyone here. From easy (or a quicker make for the more experienced) to more difficult patterns, in a variety of styles and stitches, and a variety of yarns that are not attributed to a sole supplier - makes finding an alternative easier when you know you need DK weight or Aran weight. The styles are bold bright, subtle, modern, traditional.. I cannot wait to get stuck into this but which pattern to choose! 😊

Modern crocheted shawls and wraps
35 styles and I don't know which one to do first. Styles suitable for all seasons and all events. In the words of John Barrowman FAB-U-LOUS. I would recommend this book to all crocheters no matter what their age or skill level.
