Speechless... Beautifully written dark romance 🖤
V.F. Mason and this book… I'm speechless… It's all I might have wanted and much more…It’s dark, twisted and unpredictable. Crime and mystery surrounded. Captivating, angsty, full of suspense. Pain, torment and overwhelming grief. Hate to love, to forgiveness. Complex of emotions. The Land Where Sinners Atone is beautifully written and consumed me from the very beginning. First chapters sent me through an emotional rollercoaster, shaked me, and by the end of the third one I was crying, feeling the Phoenix’s pain, and so much hating Zachary. Reading their stories, at different stages of their lives, got the full picture of how unique, precisely created and complex individuals they are. How they were able to pursue their goals regardless of adversities. How one moment influenced the direction they followed, how different could their future be.Its slow burn, enemies to lovers, from so much hate to love, desire, forgiveness. While reading it I went thru so many different emotions all over the place, asking myself when finally sth good will happen to balance all the torture, misery and pain.I admire Phoenix for her strength, uncompromising attitude, keeping herself straight ahead no matter how badly she was affected in the past. How for those she loves can sacrifice herself without second thoughts. Zachary - I hated him for most part of the book, couldn't see the way he might get redemptions for his actions. When he finally realised his mistakes, that's when it got even more interesting. The chemistry and sexual tension between the two of them is undeniable, palpable. It's not just about desire or pure lust, deeper affection, love of two broken and hurt souls. There is crime and mystery around it, profilers just like from Criminal Minds (bonus if you are a fan just like me).The best way to read it is going blindfolded - I left the blurb and detailed reviews behind, and just dive in to uncover a brilliant book. It's unmistakably one of my fav reads this year.

Honestly don’t bother…spoilers ahead. This book had so much potential, the storyline had a twist (actually spending time in prison for years) I haven’t come across much before. But unlike other V F Mason books, this one sucked.I lost interest when I realised Zach had no remorse for his actions when he saw her on the balcony nor when he went to her bar and still refused to apologise. I stopped reading when she was getting weak at the knees for a man she thinks is responsible for the death of her baby. Even if in some realm of this reality a woman can be romantically involved with such a man, to do so with 0 grovel, remorse, repentance nothing???? Are you smoking cat piss? I love love love a ruthless cold bastard of an alpha but if we’re reading romance (dark or otherwise) then there should be more. Phoenix is such a wallflower/pushover. She was more likeable in prison.Even though I stopped reading before 50% I skipped ahead to see if the unsub was who I thought it was, alas, it was. Sigh.

Masterpiece ❤️
Framed for the crime she didn’t comit, Phoenix finds herself thrown behind bars, losing everything dear to her heart in the process - her husband and the love of her life, her carreer, and her freedom. One night entirely changes the course of her life. With no one in her corner, and a raging man hunting her for killing his wife, bringing her worst nightmares to life, she tries to survive in the world where everyone hates her. Four long years of torture, pain, and heartbreak leave a permanent mark on her soul, driving her to the point when she starts to believe she is guilty. But when new evidence come to the light, and Phoenix is cleared of the charges, the man who broke her completely is the only person she can trust. The question stands, who is the killer and how is it all connected? How thin is the line between love and hate? Is there a land where sinners atone and redemption is possible? Phoenix and Zachary have to find a way to solve the mystery, learing how to forgive and forget. Their story is full of pain, half-truths, and hatred. But fate has its ways, and when the truth surfaces, they’re bound to be together. This is the most suspensful romance book I’ve read so far. Full of mystery, emotional, raw read. A must read for every lover of romantic suspense.

Absolutely Brilliant!!
I always love V F Mason's books & this one was no exception. It was fantastic! I thought Phoenix's character was tremendous. She was so strong through all the awful things that happened to her. I love strong female characters. Zach was really awful to begin with but you can't help but fall in love with him. I thought I'd worked out who the Unsub was but got it wrong!! Can't wait for the next V F Mason book. Hope it's soon. Worth at least 5 stars in my view.

good read but unreal
Not believable. The relationship between phoenix and Sebastian can’t have possibly dissolved into thin air so quick?!I did finish the book though ..

Gripping
This is not a fairytale love story. It's a very real love story, that made me feel all the emotions."I’m a survivor of many things, but even survivors know when to give up."This story was really hard to take at times, and the characters really not likeable. But somehow they still managed to draw me in and turn my feelings around."Even good people have the power to hurt you with their actions. Maybe that’s why a lot of people look at the world through a gray haze."This book had me hooked and kept me hooked until the very end. So many twists and turns, I loved every minute of it."I want her, and what I want, I get. Tonight, Phoenix Hale became mine. Mine to keep."
