Stunning Value on Amazon
Well, the Tesco DAB radio that we've had in the kitchen for a few years went pop the other day. A vain attempt to fault find it sent me down the route of a new power supply from eBay. God bless the complex world we live in when the replacement of the right amperage and voltage arrived with too small a connector size. Blast! at £3.95 the whole lot is consigned to the garage for future investigation. Replacement urgently required.Currys and Argos websites were both looked at on the Sunday before Christmas. Pure Evoke H3 for £99.99 on both sites. Then Christmas Eve (when Currys TV adverts says there was a sale on) the price goes up to £119.99 at each shop/website. The walnut finish is inexplicably more expensive as well.... I wasn't going to be beaten and in true 2018 fashion I shopped on line until I dropped (on the sofa with the cat on my lap). AMAZON - Pure Evoke H3 Walnut for £74.95 Yessssss! Ordered and I'm happy to wait for free delivery.New Year's Eve - it's delivered! Unpacked and the cat loves the cardboard box it comes in, result. Plugged in with a cursory look at the instructions (I know; RTFB) and truly blown away by the quality that oozes from it. The colour screen, perfect so clear and very useful. Ease of operation, well it looks easier than the VQ something or other that has been consigned as the garage radio as you can't turn it down below "my god that's louder than a conversation" level. Finally, the sound quality is outstanding. For £75 we've got a kitchen radio that would easily have rivalled the quality hifi of some years ago in a compact handy sized unit. The local radio (Wave 105) comes across crystal clear with just the right amount of weight and oompf and when you turn it down the clarity is retained. One very happy bunny. Well done Amazon and well done Pure.Happy New Year one and all

This is class ,not the most cheapest on the market but if you want quality this is ,the radio its self has got a good weight, nice and sturdy, very simple to tune in and work, had songs on phone playing via the Bluetooth feature yet again very simple to set up we had on volume 20 max is 30 we had to talk quite loud to have a chat ,music sounded good he he ! bought the battery for the radio charged as stated still running 16 hours later one bar left will let you decide maybe 20 ! haven't used alarm so cant help on that ,but all in there is a saying what you pay for is what you get ,and you get a fantastic dab radio with a few extras well worth treating yourself

It's ok. I'd say overpriced.
I am trying to be as honest as I can in this review. For what it is, a clock radio, it was a welcomed purchase, because I needed a small clock radio for my very small apartment, whose cover was pretty versatile (since I move out a lot and always get a change of decor) that offered as good a sound as a small mono radio could offer, and I was willing to pay for that. I was also willing to pay extra to make it portable. Hence why instead of buying any other radio I opted for this one by pure.As a radio, it is loud enough for the space that I have. I like the fact that I can make it portable and move it between my bedroom and my kitchen, depending on my need (cook listening to something/use it as a clock radio). But for that I will be taking out an extra £25.- I like that it has a bluetooth feature, that was something I was willing to throw extra money on, as I listen to saved podcasts on spotify and tunein a lot.- The wake up radio feature was another reason why I bought a small dab; I am not adding this as a plus for pure because frankly most cheapo radios do this. No need to throw so much money for just this alone. Now why the three stars: It gets a 5+ for my needs, but a 3 for what pure offers for the price.1. I'd appreciate businesses small and large ditch fancy photo editing and show the item as it is. What's the point in encouraging a buyer to purchase something based on how better it looks in pictures if when actually seeing the item it falls short. They used some sharpness/contrast to make the walnut veneer look more...well, wood-like in pictures. I think they claim it's real wood veneer, but if it is so, it is of the cheapest quality. It looks just like a(n almost) plain brown plastic veneer. Quite poorly cut on my radio also (can see leftover glue around the rim). For the price-point, and considering other competitors offer better veneers for LOWER priced radios. I reckon Pure should take that in mind.2. Dab is ok. My signal is pretty strong, but I find the radio has a crunchy sound after listening for a while.3. One of the biggest let-downs is the bluetooth- sound becomes pretty crunchy again. Loudness increased on both phone and radio is ok for my small apartment.4. Am purchasing the (rather expensive) battery (for what it is) to make it portable; will update how that goes. I get that they would naturally have to inflate the price more if they included a battery with it, but I feel they already inflated the price a bit too much for the capability to become portable alone. This much money for a 3w speaker, I'd have checked JL's 5w if I didn't mind the radio not being portable. Bare in mind i got it for £85 which is a sale price, I wish I was fast and got it for £74 when it was on sale, but I really needed a clock radio (largely to wake me up as my phone can't wake me up; this kicks very loud as an alarm, and it's nice waking up to classic fm). I would have ever paid £120 for this, maybe I am just too tight idk.5. This one grind my gears a bit. On the settings when playing radio you can change the screen to show the date/song played or signal strength. WHY, OH WHY not have an option to show the clock larger instead. The clock looks so good in standby, could they not add a (smaller) clock in that format when in use. I'd rather the "show date" option was a larger clock than the teeny faded one in the corner that you get otherwise.

Review for Evoke H6
Early days so far, but I am more than happy with my new radio. I thought it was dead on arrival at first, but it was just the screen sticker covering the display (duh!).The sound is very good so far - note that as with all hifi products the speakers will take about 30 hours of play to run in properly (the diaphrams need to soften up a bit) - until then the sound will seem slightly muffled, dialogue on the radio will seem a bit like the presenters are holding their noses etc.

Unreliable
I have, to date, purchased two of these Pure Evoke H3 radios and both have been returned as faulty. The first lost electric power after 2 days of minimal use. The second arrived with 8 local stations already installed and no others - the scanning function did not appear to work. I suspect the second radio could have been a faulty return which was sent out again. This radio was intended as a Christmas present for my elderly mother, she is still waiting and I am becoming increasingly exasperated. Unfortunately we have not had this radio long enough to make a proper assessment, but it is rated well by Which and the style the size is just right for positioning on a bed side table and it is easy to use. However, I just wonder how many more I will be sending for before I receive one that actually works! Unfortunately this model appears to be in short supply in the present circumstances so there are not many options for buying.
