Garmin Acc, Quick Power Adapter

I purchased this unit as it was a Garmin product and I did not fancy purchasing one of those cheap £8 to £15 Chinese units. This unit has a switch that cuts the power to the dash camera after 10 minutes or another position after 24 hours of constant use to stop any chance the dash cam might leave you with a flat battery. The OBD unit has a censor that cuts the power when a pre set voltage has been reached so your car will start and not leave you stranded. Another feature with this unit if your car is rocked when it is switched off or hit the unit sends power again and records for another 10 minutes ( not tried when set on 24hour setting ). Just to be clear this unit will not work like a hard wiring kit and will not put the Dash cam into true parking mode (well it did not on mine anyway. Road Angel Ultra 4K). When the OBD unit is on it has a red constant light on it and flashes slowly when the set time is over and goes out if the battery voltage drops below the set level. Please look and see where your OBD port is and if you are able to plug this unit into it and still be able to replace covers etc, mine was underneath the passenger parcel shelf and fitted perfectly and can hardly be seen. The unit is working well and I am pleased with it so far, hope the extra cost rewards me with a long working life fingers crossed.

Bit expensive but works well. With 2 USB outlets it powers my dash cam and powers my phone while acting as my Navigator. Limited power so don't expect to fast charge a big smart phone but it will keep it topped up while its displaying your route. I was initially a bit concerned that equipment was staying on, but after careful checking once I remove keys from ignition and lock the car, it goes 10 mins before powering off. I managed to neatly hide the wires so overall I saved money vs a garage installing this.

This is an absolute game changer when it comes to installing a dash cam! I've used it on my own car and my mums car and it makes the installation so much easier and tidier. There's no wires hanging around and the OBD power adapter is sleek and low profile. I've used it on my Abarth 595 and the parking mode works for a good amount of time before powering down and I haven't had any issues with the dashcam draining the battery. I got another one of these for my mums car as the dashcam was hardwired in and after not being used for a day, the car battery would be dead. I'm optimistic that this will solve that issue. The selector switch on the adapter itself gives you 3 options. 10 minute, 24 hour or indefinitely providing power to the connected accessories and it also shuts down depending on the car battery voltage meaning theres no worries of the car not starting after a prolonged period. Overall, this is expensive, however makes powering a dashcam with parking mode so much easier!

This way of powering front and rear Garmin cams is a bit of a secret, as I only stumbled across it by chance, rather than research. However it is a fantastic option - simple and discreet, while keeping messy cables from ruining the look of my tidy centre console (by avoiding using the cigar lighter at all). Fitting was very easy. I originally had resigned myself to using a Halfords fitting service to hardwire the cams to the fuse box, but that also meant when changing cars would need paying to remove or leave wires behind. But this little box plugs into a port under the steering wheel designed for interfacing with a diagnostic computer. The device gives the choice to keep powering the cams for 10mins, 24 hours or always, once the car is switched off. I leave it on 10 mins so never worry about it draining the battery, which apparently will never happen anyway as there is a sensor that stops the cams using power if the battery voltage falls below a set safe level. Thoroughly recommend for a tidy install.

Not much to say other than it works

This is a great alternative to tapping a fuse to hard wire a dash cam. I had planned to do this originally, but was put off by not being able to refit the fuse box cover with a piggy back fuse fitted. This would leave the fuses exposed in the passenger footwell for kicking with potentially wet feet. Not a good combo. This is a perfect alternative! I managed to fit this with a Garmin Mini 2 dash cam in a Lexus IS300h with all the wires hidden in about 5mins. I’ve had no issues with battery drain. I was concerned about this due to hybrids using a smaller 12v battery which are more prone to going flat, but it’s all working perfectly. More expensive than a hard wire fuse box kit unfortunately, but highly recommended none the less.

Very easy to fit and enables power to the dashcam when parked. Way better than hard wiring to the fuse box and does not effect your car insurance, as a hard wired dashcam is classed as a modification, not an accessory. Super easy to run a cable from this to the dashcam and hide it behind trim/under the top of the windscreen. Three stars due to the price - typical Garmin, this is massively expensive for what it is.

Bought as a spare, works fine.

Plugged it into the OBD-II port, and it worked immediately. My Garmin dash cam now supports parking mode without hardwiring. Clean installation and reliable performance.

Do jedneg USB mam podłączona kamerę, do drugieg GPS tracker. Ustawione na 10 min opóźnienie po wyłączeniu auta, pozwala to zapomnieć o ładowaniu baterii w urządzeniach. W razie wstrząsów w aucie, przywraca zasilanie na kolejne 10 minut :) / edit. Niestety po kilku miesiącach urządzenie przestaje trzymać ustawienia i kamerka działa cały czas po wyłączeniu auta, dopiero wypięcie i ponowne włożenie do OBD pomaga na chwilę. Już 2 urządzenie i oba mają to samo :(
