Can you mute the conversation

Yes...lift the speaker boom straight up to mute automatically

operating a dozer, skid steer and heavy equipment. We may work 4-5 hours at a time with frequent communication. Will batteries last for this?

The batteries won't last that long. I contacted the manufacturer and they said I have to physically remove the batteries even if they're off or they still draw enough current to drain the batteries completely dead in 4-6 hours.

Can you have one master with own remote headset operate individually from another master and remote, without interfering or hearing the other system?

Yes, I use mine while about 10-20 other pairs are being used at the same time and me nor anyone else there has any interference.

I purchased the 2 unit system. can i purchase an additional slave for the set i have. if so what or how do i order one additional slave.

Yes, but you need to contact company directly to ensure you get the correct headset to work with the master.
