Q: Does this burn hotter than a can of sterno?

Yes and no. All "Green Label" Sterno and off brand products burns hotter than regular Sterno. The regular Sterno is for chafing dishes, and keeping food warm. The green label is hotter and is for cooking.

Q: Is this good for boiling water and if so, how long to bring the water to boil?

yes, it will boil water. Time depend on how much water and the size, shape of the pot. The deeper the pot, the longer it takes.

Q: I never used this product before. How do you extinguish it?

You just put the cap back on. I have used these a lot they work good.

Q: Can this be used indoors? I'm looking for something to use during winter storms when the power goes out.

If the room is well ventilated it will be fine.
