Why do some of them look moldy ?

None of mine looked moldy. I did have to send them back because I have a very large bird. These are for smaller birds

These are wonderful. i would contact company in Oregon regarding salt, i don't believe that they do. i have been using these for some time and they are the best.

Are these made in the united States?

I don't use these anymore. Cuttlebone is always imported. Good ones are getting scarce. Oregon used to have a great distributor they have been out for a long time. .

Do these still have the hard backing on them?

Yes, there is a hard backing that is part of the cuttlebone. These cuttlebones are about 1/4 inch thick so they last a long time before the bird gets to the hard part.

The metal on the back is quite flimsy and doesn’t hold too well to the cage but if you’re able to drill a hole throgg it h the top and put a chain through them then these are amazing
