A new take on mazes
See pictures! I included some commentary and a snapshot of the first part of every maze so you can get a sense of the artwork featured in Ariadne. As a kid, I grew up liking mazes and word search. I didn't like crosswords or riddles too much. I thought this game/puzzle would be a nice throwback to my inner child. The mazes are O.K. Sometimes they can be frustrating and just like a real maze, you end up where you started or you keep passing by the same pile of bones. That bush definitely looks familiar. So I kind of like that it has the same sense of being stuck in a maze. At least the first two mazes I was randomly flipping the pages around (the map opens up unconventially with different cuts in the map to provide variability). That works, until 1 minute later you realize you're just going back and forth to the same parts of the maze. So in a way, I feel trapped which reminds of me of a computer game, the 7th Guest where I got stuck in the dungeon in a dark maze. I never finished that game because I was terrified of never getting out.So maybe this game is a way for my mind to heal...I do like corn mazes and everytime I end up back at the beginning in Mazescape I'm reminded of being stuck in a real corn maze and ending up back at the beginning after an hour which was next to the exit, so I kind of finished? That actually happens a lot in this puzzle. No judgement. This is less of a game and more of a puzzle. Eventually, your mind adjusts to the three dimensional aspect of remembering if you had folded the map in this direction or not and realizing that some paths are dead ends forever. You also begin to notice that you need to end up at certain levels on the map to be able to hop back to the other side, much like Hogwarts and the moving staircases. The production is O.K. The map paper is not going to last forever, especially if players randomly fold left, right, up, down, up, right, left over and over at 2am (who does that? My husband that is!) The box is nice with magnetic closure and is appropriately sized - many board games come in boxes that are ridiculous and add to shipping cost and eats up storage space. What I do not like about the Mazescapes is the artwork. The artwork does not appeal to me AT ALL. I saw the cover and I thought maaaayyyybbbeee I will be O.K. with it. I'm not. I just don't like the art style and some aspects of the theme - which are human bones in cages...I'm just not amused. After anatomy class a skull is a skull. There is blood. Whoop-de-doo, I wonder if it has some virus swirling around in it because that's what the real concern is.There may be other themes but even then I just don't like the art style - it kind of creeps me out. Not the blood or the human bones or the minotaur - the art style. And I understand that the last map has the minotaur so of course there are skeletons and cages all over and maybe I'm trying to escape The Labyrinth. Ariadne, which makes me think of Ariana Grande, is a Grecian princess/goddess associated with mazes and labyrinths. I like Greek mythology, but the artwork is dated, like I'm stuck in the 90s on a Windows 95 computer - which is HORRIFYING and I just can't look past itI will pass this on to a friend, but because of the artwork, I would think twice about purchasing another Mazescape.

Fun, Original Solitaire Puzzle Set
Will be a Christmas present, after enjoying my own copy over the past several weeks. The puzzles are mazes, but set up in a way that causes the connected parts of the maze to shift. Interesting side trips and objects to find in the mazes add to the enjoyment. Seven maze maps in the box. The maze maps are sturdy paper, and a non-marking trace pencil is included so that the mazes can be reused.

Only 3 stars due to cosmetic damage found on maze 2.
The media could not be loaded. The game is fun and unique but unfortunately when I got to maze 2 it was really scratched up bad. I have to be extra careful as the cuts are almost deep enough to tear through the page when venturing the labrinth.Just be careful when ordering as you could get a copy that's damaged like mine .

Outstanding time waster
Getting on a plane? Going for a long drive? Need a distraction for kids? Waiting for drinks at a bar? This is a fun little game to have. Surprisingly replayable.

Un gioco single player inaspettato
Tanti intricati labirinti che ti fanno perdere la testa. Consigliatissimo, anche come regalo per chi ama i giochi da tavolo: penso sia il primo singleplayer che io abbia provato che ti fa divertire!
