Q: Does the current version have the sensitivity control knob ?

I ordered one on September 5, 2015 and it doesn't have a sensitivity control. As shipped, the control outlet is too sensitive for my purposes (a desktop PC, powered down, apparently still draws enough juice to be detected as "on"). Disappointing.

Q: Specs very lacking: #sense outlets?, # always-on outlets?, #switched outlets?, etc.

It's simple - look at the photo. ONE sense outlet, TWO always on outlets, and FOUR switched outlets.

Q: WHAT IS A SMART STRIP ?

A smart strip uses activity (current) on one outlet to control the others. For example if you plug your computer into the Control outlet, when you shut down your computer all the other outlets (with finite exceptions) are unpowered.

Q: how do you get power to the controlled outlets?

When the device that is plugged into the master outlet (controller) is turned on, Smart Strip senses that and turns on power to the controlled outlets.
