Hilarious, uniquely entertaining 40K book. Now with a bit of added material.
This is a reprint of the original Uplifting Primer which was originally published in 2003 and has a bit of added material to that original work. The phrase "Damocles Gulf Edition" phrase added to the title distinguishes this reprint from the original version of the book. I own an original 2003 version of this book. The Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer deserves to be back in print because its famously over-the-top harsh propaganda style is intensely amusing and any 40K fan, Imperial Guard enthusiast or not, would enjoy this. This book quickly developed a great reputation after its initial publication in 2003, but the print run of the first version was so limited a lot of people who wanted to buy a copy missed out. Now with this new edition everyone who wanted a copy of this work should be able to get one and at the time of this writing the price here on Amazon is at about 32% off the list price, so the book is a good bargain besides. The newer work, The Imperial Munitorum Manual, owes a lot to this book and while amusing on its own, it is highly derivative and nowhere near as original as the Uplifting Primer. If you're only going to buy one, buy the Uplifting Primer. The list of infractions and their punishments, the hilarious propagandistic descriptions of alien foes (e.g., Genestealers have "puny" claws) as well as the "flawless" human form and other humorously written material will have you laughing for hours. This is a unique and fun bit of Warhammer 40,000 fluff like no other. Now get your lasgun shouldered and fall in!

Great little book for any WH 40k nut!
I bought this as a gift for a friend who's heavily into the WH40k universe.Of course I can't resist a quick leaf through any books I give away - and this one really made me chuckle. I've only got involved in this universe recently, with the Dawn of War video games, but this book really seems to sum up the quirks of the forces of the Imperium.Needless to say he loved it - and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a gift for someone with similar interests (or for your own collection of course!).

Great but shipping to the eye of terror took longer ...
Had to replace my issued copy urgently before the Commissar found out. Great but shipping to the eye of terror took longer than expected.

Utter hilarity and also very helpful if you are running a 40k Roleplay with Dark heresy and Only War
The book is a very tongue-in-cheek comedic book, and any 40k fan would love this book to bits. In addition, if you are running a 40k campaign for Dark heresy or Only War (Particularly Only War), this is the book to get to allow the players to get the feel of the universe and its cosmic horror as the players who are unfamiliar with the universe will be caught offguard and allow them to experience the true horrors of the 40k universe.Fully half of my players in ONly War actually believe what is said in the book, as they are too darn lazy to read the real rulebook and codices, and this actually made their roleplay very authentic when they meet with something that is utterly opposite of the book."THE BOOK IS A LIE!!!!!!!!" is perhaps my most favourite line that I have gotten from one my my players as soon as he found out that the Tau are way more powerful and smarter than they are.
