Finally a Pencil Grip My Child Wants to Use — Big Improvement in Just 2 Weeks!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:My 5-year-old has really struggled with holding her pencil correctly, and we've tried other grips in the past that she absolutely refused to use—so they didn’t help at all. These grips, however, have been a game-changer. She actually likes using them and says they’re comfortable and easy to hold. They’ve made a big difference in her finger placement, and I’ve already noticed her holding her pencil correctly even when not using the grip. Her handwriting has improved significantly in just two weeks. Highly recommend for any child working on proper pencil grip!

Helpful!
So these are often for training kids to write, but we got these for my older sister since she’s doing a LOT of writing for her studies, and she’s always had some issues with her hands and fine motor skills. These prevent her hands from getting hurt or cramped from all the writing, and it helps her write more legibly. It is definitely a tool for all ages, and yes, you can pick out fun colors or designs, but mostly I want to say that these work. They help. If you have arthritis or a 504 or maybe it’s just hard to squeeze a normal pencil, these HELP. They prevent a lot of pain and difficulty for her, and I highly recommend them. I remember how happy she was about them when we were kids, and she specifically asked for some as an adult BECAUSE she needed them for her work and studies, but didn’t know where to find them.

Your kid hates school? Maybe writing hurts his or her hand
I have a 6 year old boy who struggles at school. He never does any work that requires a pencil. That's all of it. He can, and will, do his school work if you don't make him write it down. "2 x 2? 4! What? Write it down? 2 x 2 = ...I don't know the answer..." It's THAT bad.I watched how he held his pencil. I'd describe it if I could, but it's near impossible. He had all five of his fingers on the pencil. Imagine that if you can. His thumb was bent back so far, and all the tips of his fingers were pink with blood in them. He'd constantly put his pencil down and stretch his hands and complain they were hurting. But the teacher never noticed. It wasn't until I took him out of school and started doing it myself that I realized either. Everyone was failing my son, myself included. So I ordered these to try to help him and gave him lots of one on one time.He fought these. He didn't want to use them. It took him a week to figure out how to pick the pencil up and hold it with this thing on it without looking it over. He complained. He doesn't want to write! It hurts his hand! He has to put the pencil down to erase, then struggle to figure out how to pick it back up. Stick with it! It does improve! Now, he doesn't even notice. It's been 3 solid months of homeschool. He picks up his pencil, with the grip on it, and starts writing. He doesn't fight writing. His hand doesn't hurt. He doesn't even notice the grip on it and can use it with ease.If he grabs a pencil without the grip on it, he holds it almost perfectly. No five fingers. The only problem with his pencil skills now is he still bends his thumb back, and it does hurt him to write. So we continue using the grip. This did NOT fix his penmanship though! It's still bad. I figure since he's just now starting to hold his pencil correctly, it's OK if he has kindergarten level penmanship. He'll get better, or he won't. I'm OK with that. I'm simply thrilled that he doesn't fight school work anymore. I'm looking forward to him going back to class with his friends, and so is he.

Excellent for the Standard Pencil Diameter, Gives Confidence When Drawing
I brought one of these pencil grips to my office along with Ticonderoga brand #2 pencils, to experiment with using it and a pencil for some of my technical writing work. I use the pencil grip and pencil primarily to help me underline and otherwise highlight lines of text which are in a very small font size. I believe the pencil grip helps me draw more comfortably, and also draw simple boxes and lines more precisely. (I am not a trained artist or illustrator.)My fingers are rather small in diameter for a man.I feel I get a good grip on the pencil using this Pencil Grip device. I like the feeling of the material. I like the visual "R" or "L" markings that help me feel I am holding the grip in the right way. The grip has a very strong frictional hold on the pencil, and I feel more confident in doing my simple drawing activities. The grip slides on a standard #2 pencil and holds it tightly. It is made to the Ticonderoga outer pencil sizing, so if you have a pencil which is larger or smaller in diameter, it simply won't fit. I don't know if it can be "resized" using a sharp knife to carve material out of the bore of the pencil grip.I also like the different colors of the pencil grips. They are cheery, and it is easy to spot my pencil provided I don't toss papers on top of it.I am not sure if pencil diameters vary a lot, but one improvement I'd suggest for this product is that it be able to work with mechanical pencils of either metal or plastic construction.I think these pencil grips are extremely useful if you work in pencil -- at least for the very basic activities I do. (I can't draw even stick people, but my "smiley faces" see acceptable.)

Works!
Works! I spent decades holding pens and pencils incorrectly, and I’m not sure why the habit was never corrected. Maybe it was overlooked because my penmanship was still decent, even though I gripped my pencil awkwardly.I purchased this kit along with a Cursive Handwriting Workbook for Adults and practiced for 15-30 minutes a day. The blue gripper worked best for me. At first, it felt unnatural, but after four weeks, I no longer needed the gripper. Now, holding a pen or pencil correctly feels completely natural!
