My current non-full bore is 55mm with very little play to install a longer assembly.** A: Valve is 60mm long. **Q: Can I use this for a washing machine installation?** A: You can do, but there are rather obtrusive. The washing machine supply rairly needs to be turned off, and there are much smaller on / off valves specifically designed for washing machines. **Q: Can it be used as a mains stopcock** A: I am not a heating engineer, I am an electrical / instrument engineer with a lot of mechanical experience and worked in the water industry. I have asked several plumbers /heating engineers the same question and looked online. Generally they say that it cannot replace a stopcock and would break regulations. However, they cannot find the actual regulation to support their claims. If space permits you can install this type of ball valve on the house side of the main stopcock. This is what I am going to do and then the water supply can be easily turned on and off with a quarter turn of the handle. I am told the main stopcock will always leak if turned on and off regularly as they are not designed for this. I have 3 neighbours whose properties have flooded when they went away because they did not isolate the water supply. I turn the water off when I go away.
