Protection After Limb Removal
We removed a number of lower hanging limbs. It was unsightly and we worried it would damage the tree over our hot summer. This spray goes on easily; it’s sticky at first and that took over 24 hours to dry thoroughly. The end result is almost the same color as tree bark. We believe it will really help keep bug attacks on the tree to a minimum.

This stuff is good
I do a lot of garden work. Ordinarily I do not use pruning sealer. The thinking behind this is most tree and shrub wounds will heal themselves and often artificial sealing will create a situation where you're actually sealing IN problems, like mold and insects, etc.We had a horrific storm here in CT and lost many trees. And those we didn't lose, lost major limbs. We had to have tree people come here and radically cut away large limbs, clean up torn bark, etc. In the case of one very old and large japanese maple, we lost 1/2 of it's largest branches. So it's a tall, thin tree, instead of a great wide lush tree. Very scary. The tree guy said seal the bark which is torn. Don't completely seal it up because you can't but try to help the tree through the winter. So we bought a lot of this Bonide sealer, for that tree and an even larger oak. It seems to have helped. We won't know until the spring or summer. But the sealer looks good and the tree is strong so far. What I do know about Bonide is this: I've used it before, it's excellent as a sealer and stays on once it dries. It is also very good for sealing the insides of wooden window boxes and clay pots. It's like spray tar.I would suggest buying a clip on sprayer, to help with the spray because depressing the spray nozzle after a while is difficult. This is thick stuff. It tends to ..not clog but get messy as you depress it. And then you want to be able to effectively keep shaking the can to get the most out of it without it sputtering and making a mess on your hands and clothing. And it could. But it's worth it because it's effective. The seller is the manufacturer. When I asked them to please ship quickly and told them why I was buying so many cans, they shipped overnight. IMO, they're good people and sell a quality product. And the price is about 2/3 to 1/2 what you'll pay in your garden shop.

Watch Out for Clumps and Drips
Product was easy enough to use, however it sometimes accumulated around the spray nozzle, and then then made large drips. If you're gonna use it while on a ladder, lookout below for the person holding the ladder steady!
