Elitech STC-1000 Temperature Controller Origin Digital 110V Centigrade Thermostat 2 Relays

These are about the most affordable, versatile in-line thermostat switches I have found. However, to use them one has to have some basic electrical wiring skills. They are not “plug and play”. I put the controller unit in a 22.5 cu in single gang electrical outlet box. It can be used without the outlet box, but I find it is much easier to handle this way. Unfortunately the STC-1000 unit will not exactly fit a standard wide opening wall plate cover, but a little trimming will make it fit (get nylon). The unit has slides on the side to snug it up to the plate. For connector wiring, I buy either a 12/3 SJTW or a 14/3 extension cord and cut them for connecting to the STC-1000 unit – that way you already have the plug and connector built in to your electrical line. Remove the back wiring protector plate on the STC-1000 unit to have more room for the wiring in the electrical outlet box. These units can be used for either heating or cooling control – they have a dual relay switch. No need to rewire the unit for heating or cooling – this function is controlled by the temp settings. Some people complain there is no Fahrenheit display. I am not a Centigrade person either, so I just print a Centigrade to Fahrenheit conversion chart, laminate it, and keep it next to the unit for handy reference. On the back side of the laminate I have the instructions for setting up the STC-1000 unit.

Using this for a fermentation chamber. In my build I'm pulling cold air out of my keezer and into the chamber, this unit switches the fan on when the chamber gets too warm. The temperature sensor is accurate and once you get it set up it works great, I have had a mead in the chamber for about a month and it has been doing its job very well the whole time. There isn't much in the way of clear directions shipped with this unit but YouTube fixes that.My configuration runs power from the wall, to this unit and then feeds a 15 amp outlet. The outlet has the upper and lower plugs separated giving you a hot plug and cold plug. I run a fan off the cold side and when it goes above temp the fan kicks on and cools the chamber.

2nd review, where do they go? I like the controller it is small, simple, easy to hook up and highly visible display. There is also a minimum hasslegetting it programmed but typical of Chinese products the instructions are not good. Get online and watch the video instructions-- rememberafter doing the Set/Function/Set/program parameters, to press the power button which STORES the temp parameter you set!Cannot address longevity but so far it is running well and keeping the temp stable.

The T-Stat works very well. I installed it in my 1977 JCPenny refrigerator. I was having problems finding the original thermostat. I installed the STC-1000 in the same compartment as the original. I finally received the original T-Stat and now I have both working with a switch to change T-Stats.

Clear instructions. Works as advertised. I incorporated it into my dough proofing setup annd it works fine. I just wish they had dimensional drawings on the case along with the instructions.ETA: I changed my rating from five stars to three as I cannot get an direct answer to my question as to whether or not replacement probes can be purchased. I interpret this response to be: If the probe fails or is damaged the only solution is to buy another complete unit.

Maybe it was me but wiring instructions were lacking making it seemed a little overly complicated. However once it was wired it seems to do its job. It is being used to more accurately control the temperature in my 75 gallon fish tank. With age the internal thermostat often go getting stuck in the on opposition and this will help alleviate this fear and give me a nice digital read out to more accurately track the temperature.

Lasted 6 months, and is now buzzing, and clicking like mad.
