My husband and I love our FULI Japanese Traditional Shiki Futon. We've had it for almost 3 months now. It was delivered faster than expected. The quality is excellent! There was no off-gas smells when we unpacked it and we were able to sleep on it after a day of letting it decompress. It fluffed up to about 7cm (2.5 inch). We prefer sleeping on extra firm mattresses and have slept on thermarests (thin inflatable mats) in the pasts, so this Shiki was perfect for us. We didn't buy a tatami mat with it because we are ok with the thickness of the Shiki as is. I recommend trying just the futon for a while, and then buying a tatami if you feel you need the extra cushioning. We also very much appreciated the small gift that was included.

I have tried so many methods to relieve a lower back,sacroiliac crest pain that has been extremely frustrating for a long time. Compounded by severe lordosis, things were starting to feel a bit bleak!I took a chance, recalling my father's trips to Japan for business trips, and his comments on the tatami mats and so on. This futon is absolutely gorgeous... a silky, soft feel and plump yet firm structure. Top of the line craftsmanship! The first time lying on it, I felt such a relief. The back is already healing and sort of toning itself with the right amount of pressure and softness. As a curvy type of person, I admit to being a bit skeptical ( but desperate !!!) as to whether this would suit and help things. It's on a futon frame for now, and honestly feels like I've bought a best friend. Instead of dreading going to sleep on the traditional marshmallow mattress,I now cannot wait to get into the bed with the futon.It shipped in no time. Zero weird smells, and just needs to be left out of packaging to plump up a bit before you set it up for sleeping. It's so easy to get in and out of, which if you have very bad back problems, you will appreciate! Very happy to have purchased this :)

I bought this in the Full XL size to sleep tall visitors, but it is a full 4 inches shorter than advertised. This brand is more expensive than many others selling comparable shikibuton, but finding the Full XL size is difficult and I paid this brand's premium to get it. So I'm very disappointed that a mattress advertised as 83" long is barely 79" - the length of a normal queen shikibuton and easily had for $100 less than this one. I feel ripped off.

Arrived in good condition, and is made out of a good material, I find it very comfortable, in fact more comfortable than a bed, so far I like it.
