Fun Factual Quiz Book That May Be Better Suited To The Slightly Older Recommended Ages
I got this book to try and keep my kids entertained during the summer holidays and it is an interesting book. The pictures and photos are all excellent as you would expect from the National Geographic. The quiz questions on the other hand, although beautifully presented, proved to be a tad tricky for my 8 year old.The book is broken into sections with quiz questions immediately followed by the answers on the next pages. This does mean that I noticed some "cheating" occurring but the main thing is the learning, rather than a fair competition. Questions can be "True Or False", "Multiple Choice ABC", "Connections" or "Link A To A" types. The level it sets is maybe a little too high for my kids as some of the words are a little hard to understand or let alone read, (volcano Eyjafjallajokull, anyone?). This is not necessarily the fault of the book - these are the names after all - it just occasionally meant that they would lose interest as they became frustrated in trying to read it. Often it turned out that it became a "Dad" quizz with my 8 year old asking me the questions, testing my knowledge which again hopefully still facilitated in them learning a few facts and figures along the way.So this is a good book but if your kids are at the lower end of the recommended age spectrum, you will probably need to be on hand to help them with it.

Currently around five pounds fifty from Amazon for the Paperback version – the Kindle edition is around three pounds – this is a fascinating book that is enjoyable just to casually flick through on your own, or for a longer quizzing session with a group. A World of Knowledge
The children I know love facts and being quizzed on these facts. The National Geographic Kids Quiz Books all follow the same style and will tax a child on their knowledge. The book utilises all the great factoids and images that Nat Geo Kids have built up over the years. A5 size they contain True or False, Multiple Choice and Picture Puzzles. It is full colour and a great companion for a car journey, if you can handle being constantly asked questions. If you think that you are going to pick up and easily get all the questions right, it is unlikely unless you really are a fan. The questions can be tricky, the pictures are sometimes of things even I did not recognise. I like the fact that there is plenty more to learn. The 'Space' and 'Animal' themes cover a wide range of topics in the subject whilst the 'Our World' is a far more eclectic mix, more like the random fact books that Nat Geo Kids normally produce. All are great fun and will suit any inquisitive child.
