Pal the Pony (Penguin Young Readers, Level 2)

I bought this book for two reasons. First, my five year old daughter is a horse nut. Second, she was just starting to learn to read.When I saw this book I figured this would be a good way of encouraging her to read. I wasn't let down. The words were challenging but not so hard that she couldn't work through them. And the story is sweet and entertaining, holding her interest right through. My hats off to the author on that score! This was a big hit with my daughter and our copy (along with it's follow-up, Pal and Sal) is now well worn.

This book was perfect for our Kindergartener who is just learning to read. Pal the Pony kept her interest and motivated her to finish the book. The text is challenging but not frustrating: Plenty of easy to recognise sight words, plus longer words to sound-it-out. Our daughter was so excited to be able to read most of a book herself that she wants to order more. This title would appeal to boys or girls equally.

Bought new and the whole back is ripped

We choose this book for our struggling reader (1st grade).I absolutely love this book. It strikes a nice balance between repeating words and easily sound-out-able words. The story is cute, the pictures are so beautiful they'd make lovely wall hangings.

This is such a cute book for emerging readers. It's Simple, with the incorporation of a few challenging words. My daughter loves horses and ponies, so she really gets excited when she reads this book.

Our 3 year old granddaughter is horse crazy and adores the Pal books. She follows along and "reads" some of it with us.

Wonderful book for a toddler. We read it 4 and 5 times a day to our grandaughter who is 2. She loves the horses and cowboys in it but mostly Pal.

this was a gift for my girlfriend who said it was her favorite book series when she was a little kid. she was so happy that she almost cried, one of the books was slightly bent during shipping i am assuming.
