If you are Working on expanding your improvisation…this is a excellent book…I never met Rodney Jones, but I know a slew of NYC based player that studied with him..and they all talk about how he transformed their playing…so I purchased this book….and right out of the gate it had me thinking about smooth transitions and optimal finger placement that is most natural and relaxing without stressing the hand , very Wes like in motion..allowing better visualization of the fingerboard without really thinking almost as a natural reflex…so simple I don’t know why I never thought that way….my best explanation would be…you get to a point where you don’t think you just react and respond…instantly, as if you are having a conversation .

I have been playing a long time, and have been looking for more creative ways of connecting melodic lines in various places on the fretboard in ways that open up my improvisations. So far, the material has been illuminating. A lot of material in this book, so I think it’s a great investment.

A treasure trove of lines that will make your playing great. I entered a plateau in my playing after graduating from Berklee and this is the book that got me out of it. I love the things I am playing after taking the time to internalize the lines and fingerings. Rodney Jones and Jim Martin are the cats to learn from!
