The Art of Winnie-the-Pooh: How E. H. Shepard Illustrated an Icon

Wonderful book including drawings, conceptual sketches etc.I will treasure it! Only complaint is to Amazon, as they mailed copy with dings on all eight cover corners and a gouge in the lower back cover.When I order/ pay for a new book (especially one this beautiful) I expect it to arrive in cellophane or at least undamaged. Book did not look new.

I read this in one day..it's an absolutely gorgeous recounting of how the collaboration of Milne and Shephard came about, as well as their solitary achievements in life. Book is filled with gorgeous sketches never seen before...this is a book to be treasured for any art fan or fan of The Winnie the Pooh brand.

I've always been a big fan of Winnie-the-Pooh, and especially of E.H. Shepard's illustrations, for Pooh and for other books. What a pleasure to get details of his life and his art processes, to have photos and also lots of illustrations I hadn't seen before. Any fan of Pooh, E.H. Shepard, or even art-in-evolution, will enjoy this handsome volume.

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend who has a childhood nostalgia for winnie the poo. The book itself is nice quality and seems to be filled with many interesting tidbits and cute illustrations however, i did have to order twice as both books came damaged. I kept the lesser damaged one and sent the other back.

I really enjoyed this book. The biographical detail intertwined with the play-by-play of the publication of the Winnie-the-Pooh books was detailed but never burdensome. The language seems meant for young readers but conveys the story very well. The numerous illustrations that are all explained in the text is a rare-find and highly appreciated.

This was a gift and my niece loves it.

Beautifully produced. Who could have believed that Shepard and Milne having survived the WW1 Battle of the Somme could produce such beautiful work? Would be a great (Xmas) present for any one brought up on Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and friends.

I liked this book as Winnie the Pooh is my favourite book ever (I'm a children's writer & illustrator). However considering the extensive archives the author frequently refers to, and the family connection, I expected more illustrations. I'm disappointed, this book is not comprehensive enough.

The book itself is fantastic, illustrations look great on screen I cannot fault this particular book. I actually prefer the original sketches to the published ones (which I do love) and was so pleased to find that more sketches than I already have in another book are now available to have.

He was a great master and this book gives some lovely insights into his practice and process's.Very beautifully produced, photos are superb. Theres simply nothing to not adore, its all just wonderful.I have gifted my copy to the university library, I think its important that it sits on the shelf with his heroes like Rembrandt, its what he deserves.x
