Trek Ascent LR vs Trek Ascent Synthetic
I bought both Trek Ascent LR and Trek Ascent Synthetic 9 months ago. I wear both pairs frequently. I own or have owned the vast majority of Vibram models. Fivefinger's are all I wear.Firstly I wish to dispel a few fallacies that I've seen in other reviews.- The Trek Ascent LR leather is NOT warmer than the Trek Ascent Synthetic. If you want a warmer pair the buy the Trek Ascent Insulated which are designed for cold weather.- These do NOT run small. They run true to EU size same as the other 20+ pairs of Vibrams I currently own. I am a perfect EU 39 in all pairs. To date the ONLY pair of fivefingers that have actually ran small on me were the Bikila WP.I've seen so many reviews claiming different models "run small". People STOP ORDERING FIVEFINGERS USING AMERICAN SIZES! Different vendors interpret that size chart differently. Figure out your EU size and NEVER deviate. A proper fit is when all toes slide easily into the toe pockets and your longest toe comfortably touches the end.All pairs of vibrams I have owned have adapted to my fit my feet perfectly even if they felt initially snug, including the Bikila WP. Additionally any odd lump or tight toe pocket warmed up, softened/dissolved, and the fivefingers wrapped my feet like a cozy gloves with a few hours of wearing. Yes, there is a slight break in period with fivefingers.- I personally don't find the ground feel to be diminished in the Trek Ascent models in comparison to Spyridons. Given that I've worn out 2 different pairs of Spyrodins (original and MR) in last 2 years, I think I have a pretty good sense of how they feel. The Spyridon MR served as my main walking shoes on a double camino (over 800 miles across France, Spain, and Portugal). On my next Camino the Del Norte, I will be wearing my Trek Ascent Synthetic. Trek Ascent ground feel is superior to the Trek Sport and Bikila models, but less than the KMD and KSO models. The "Soft" rubber sole Trek Ascent LR and Trek Ascent Synthetic gives far more shock absorbency than other Vibram models making them more comfortable on long walks over hard unforgiving surfaces and mixed terrain. The Trek Ascent LR leather cuff is higher than the Synthetic model and rubs your ankle initially. If you wet it, stretch it with your fingers for a few minutes, then wear it for few hours, it will break in quickly.Unfortunately the leather model is starting to give way where the leather seam meets the rubber sole. The glue Vibram used is starting fail in one small area. I believe that the Synthetic model will outlast the Leather model. The Trek Ascent Synthetic has a slightly lower heel cuff and does not rub the ankle. It also has a soft velvety heel lining that makes luxurious to wear barefoot in. Despite costing less, this pair has held up better and was more comfortable during the initial break in period which took less than an hour. The high heel cuffs on both pairs effectively keep out debris. However, they also make it a bit harder to pull the back up over your heels than other Vibram models when you first get them.I love both Trek Ascent Synthetic and the Trek Ascent LR. They are both hands down my favorite pairs of Vibrams. If I had to choose my favorite pair between them, I would choose the Trek Ascent Synthetic . However, you can't go wrong with either one.

Great Shoe But It Runs Small
The Vibram Women's Trek Ascent LR shoes look great and are comfortable to wear, but they do run smaller than my other Vibram shoes. I normally wear a size 41 women's in Vibram shoes, but I had to return the 41's for a size 42 in this particular shoe. After getting the correct size for my feet, these are very comfortable. These shoes have sturdy soles that are perfect for hiking in rough terrain. I got the green color, and it looks nice and is a good color to hide trail dust. The fact that Vibram's have a lightweight sole makes them great for being able to feel the ground as I walk. The separate toes help to keep my toes separated and so help relieve pain from the bunion I have on one foot and the hammer toes I have on both feet. I walk with a limp from Multiple Sclerosis, and I also have poor balance. These shoes give me more stability and make my walking easier because of the zero drop in the soles and the separate toes and the lightweight soles. I recommend these shoes for anyone who has a walking disability. You do need to slowly acclimate your feet to wearing minimalist shoes, but once you have become accustomed to the shoe, you may find your walking is more natural.

Great Fitting Shoes, If a Little Odd Looking
Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to find shoes that fit? Not just fit as in they get the job done, but really fit? And once you do find a pair with the Perfect Fit, you're just so happy? That's these shoes.Let's get this out of the way: yes, they are ugly. Two types of people seem to wear these shoes: paleo/vegan/crossfitters, and me (which creates interesting conversations, since I am most assuredly not in that category). People are quick to point out that they look weird because they're toe shoes. So if appearances are important to you, and you aren't a paleo/vegan/crossfitter, I don't recommend these. But, for the rest of us, these shoes are incredible. They take a couple days to form to your foot, and they will be very tight in that time, but once they do they're almost slippers with excellent tread on them (despite how they look, even putting them on gets to be as easy as slippers). They are also very easy to clean, but for the love of all that is holy, do NOT put these in the dryer. Or let them near your teething puppy, even on accident. Puppies love these things. The laces are these cool little pull laces that snap to the shoe near the toes, so there's no actual tying involved, and I've yet to have any problem with them coming undone. The tread is just the same as a very thin hiking boot tread (these are meant for trail running), so you get all the traction with the ability to feel the ground beneath your feet. Plus, you can wiggle your toes when you're bored and forgot to charge your phone. They take some getting used to and look weird, but I most definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for a new pair of shoes and struggles with finding something that fits just right.

Fantastic running experience
Fantastic experience when running they make you balance your body completely different, so take it slowly as you can over do it and hurt your self. I measured my feet standing on peace of paper as the sizes were confusing. I normally wear sizes from 3-4 depending on different makes. My measurements were 22,5cm which indicated to 6-6.5UK, EU37 and they fitted perfectly, little bit tight to start of with but after few wears they are snug and comfortable. Would recommend to everyone, I love the feeling of my toes having so much space. Material is light and soft but great quality, the sole has lots of grip and flexibility, there is also small arch support which is great. Will definitely be getting another pair.

Perfect! But take 1/2 size Bigger than usual.
It’s my 3. Pair of vibram, always size 5.5 . This time I had to return them for a 6. Unfortunately it was recommended to take a bigger size AFTER I got them. But still, best shoes ever made! Always had the black ones, now first time in such a vibrant color. Awesome! They look good on jeans and as well with a cute summer dress. And for hikes of course

Not good for people who have long toes
It took me a while to get my toes in and get use to the barefeet feeling. Not good for people who have long toes. I ordered size 7 but fit a bit snugged...shld have ordered 7.5 instead. Overall, great to walk in but not recom for long walks and hikes...esp rocky areas. It is best for light trail hiking, walking, running on pavement.
