They marry and are happy, but sadly Ellie dies. Carl had always wanted to visit Angel Falls in Venezuela - he is driven out of his home town by property developers, but gets the assistance of Russell, a boy scout who ends up on the doorstep when Carl floats the house away hanging from huge numbers of balloons.
