Healthy aquariums with conditions modelled on nature The right water values are dependent on the fish stock and plants in the aquarium. Even if the water looks clear it can be contaminated. With bad values diseases or algae can appear in the aquarium. To maintain a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature it is important to check and adapt the water values regularly. Water analysis using your smartphone – the new generation Fast diagnosis, precise results and recommended solutions Saves measurement values Displays measurement evaluation New developments - new functions and uses Fast diagnosis - precise results Download the JBL app free of charge, follow the app’s instructions, immerse the test strip into the aquarium water, position the test strip on the JBL colour chart for the analysis, scan colour chart, values will be determined, individual solution recommendations and tips will be transmitted. Note: The test strips are only suitable for one measurement each. A repeated scan of the strip leads to different values, since the strip goes on reacting indefinitely. During the analysis "aquarium freshwater"”and "water" the current CO2 content in the water will be calculated as an additional bonus. Depending on the analysis results in the sections “Aquarium Freshwater” and “Garden Pond” individualized recommendations and hints will be transmitted as to which JBL products will help to set the ideal/optimal water values.

I wanted to like it ...
I really did want to like it, and it is so easy to use. But ..... ease of use is no help if you just don't trust it.Every single reading I've taken has had *exactly* the same Nitrate reading, before and after water changes days apart ....On first use the GH and KH values caused me to panic and start ordering buffering products. But I also ordered an API hardness test kit and the readings from that were nowhere near the Proscan values. None of the readings match well with the API liquid test kit.I've tried taking the picture in different locations, different lighting, even using a different phone. I even ordered another set of test strips in case I had a dodgy batch (like I said I wanted to like it). But I just can't trust the results.Sorry I can't recommend it.Update. I tried it again today. When I do my water change I put the water through a nitrate filter first so I did a test on the freshly filtered water. The API test kit have me a result of 0. A JBL test kit have me a result of 1-2. This gave me a result of 25! Exactly the same reading that EVERY test I've done with it has given me (no 24s no 26s but 25 every time). I went through the values it stores and checked. 25 every time. As I said above I've tried different lighting, different phone's and a new set of refills. Sadly it's just not fit for purpose.

Inaccurate / Easy to read
I have used 6 sets of refills, so now feel able to give a good review.I hate comparing the colours on tests, so this seemed perfect and what's more it kept a history so saving me keeping a diary with the figures. But it's so in accurate that it's useless. I've tried to see if I could work out the perfect lighting conditions but have failed after 6 packs of refills. Maybe my colour card is faulty.Pro:- Easy to read- keeps history (best feature)- app has built in timerCon:- App buggy; worked well at first but now reports unable to sync readings.- In accurate; will give 18 for nitrates on RO water, whilst API test says 0. More scary is when it gives a nitrites reading of 0.25, again when it should say 0.Bottom line: Great idea, would try an improved version, but this version is not there yet.

Unfortunately this product is absolute garbage
So I’ve used a complete pack and cross reference every single test with the API master test kit. Which is known throughout the hobby to be one of the better ones and more reliable on the market. And on every single test I’m getting a different result usually the test strips are showing higher readings. I’ve also done back-to-back tests with this product five one after the other and got five completely different results don’t waste your money fantastic idea in theory but unfortunately it doesn’t work. Hopefully in the future jbl Will be able to improve this but at the moment you might as well not be doing any tests on your aquarium it is better that shows higher results as opposed to lower but that’s about the only positive I can find

Consistent and pretty accurate
Not sure why some reviews are flaky in regards to inaccuracies etc. I use a seneye device that is calibrated to my drop tests and these strips seam to be in good sync with my drop test and seneye results, i use them every other day just to keep an eye on the tank and do a proper drop test every other week. I would like to see a ammonia reading on the sticks though. I take the test at the same time each night when its dark and use my ceiling light that is very bright to ensure i have the same lighting on every test and never had any issues at all. Just make sure you dip the test for 2-3 seconds and make sure the dip time is part of the 60 second timer on the app.

Not sure about accuracy?
Used this a few times and it kept giving high/very nitrate readings, I spent quite a bit on nitrate reducing treatments but it was still very high, it doesn’t test for ammonia, so a friend came round and tested for ammonia (as excessive ammonia can cause high nitrate levels), ammonia levels were pretty good according to his more expensive test kit, so he then used his kit to test for nitrates and his kit showed nitrate levels to be acceptable. So I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.Simon.
