Just went through the process of setting up the lock. You HAVE to download an app to pair it with your fingerprint. The app was one of the reasons I bought this lock. i liked the idea of having a backup to unlock the lock if my fingerprint didnt work. However, the app is chinese (theres even a voice in the app with a heavy chinese accent, and misspelled words too). The app needs several permissions you cant deny like location and pictures/phone/file access. behind the scenes it also gets superuser access and the ability to do several other things. those things MIGHT be neccessary to the function of the app and maybe they are all used appropriately, but I do not trust it. I downloaded the app and registered long enough to set the lock up and then promptly deleted it. i didn't see a way to delete my account so i was stuck with that.havent used the lock yet though. im writing this review immediately after setting it up. lock still works without the app and it does seem to be quick and accurate to my fingerprint. My other fingers dont unlock it. And setup was quick and easy through the app. will update if the lock ceases to function. 3 stars becayse the app is sketchy, but the lock does work so far.UPDATE: the lock died after just a couple of days. It wasn't the charge, it just stopped reading fingerprints. I returned it for a refund.

They say to contact them for support but no number or contact information is available. I didn’t use the lock for one week and the battery is dead. I cannot open it. The fingerprint or the app does not work. Because the device is at a remote location, I am having difficulties recharging it. There is no instructions included or on any website how to get around this. I hope that I don’t have to cut this lock. Do not purchase this lock.

The app messages are in Chinese letters so you can't read them. You need a verification code to provision the app, but it takes forever to get it if you even do. I got the first verification code by email one time only, but if you have to reset your password, even though I know for a fact mine was correct, it won't reset because it will ask for another verification code (the original doesn't work). So, without a new verification code, you cannot change your password, rendering the app completely useless. The Bluetooth technology is sketchy and takes several attempts to pair with your phone. The construction isn't the strongest, and there are videos on Youtube on how to defeat the lock with a simple hammer.

If I could give it half star or less I would. Fraudulent product. I tried to wipe my account. I was so upset I threw the lock away after I pry barred it. I tried to wipe my account and said the lock was required. Beware for potential identity theft.

HIGHLY unnecessary access privledges in the software and this lock is VERY brittle. I seriously doubt its ability to withstand any sort of minor physical force. I'd skip it if you worry even the slightest about your phone's cybersecurity or the personal property that you hope to safeguard against thieves.

I like the idea, and was excited to have 2 of these for my yard Gates, but when I opened the box and read the instructions, and attempted to use/program/figure these lousy dam instructions, I was just going to return both of the locks , but went on YouTube and several people have videos , that explained how to work phone app and locks, And finally I was in business!! So kept them , they’re working perfectly, and I’m very satisfied!! But seriously those directions SUCK!! Thanks to YouTube!!!!Update: these locks do not work well outside in the cold after several attempts, I used the blue tooth app and even that took several attempts to get it to open , totally do not recommend these for exterior use !!!Update: after just a couple months, these LOCKS ABSOLUTELY SUCK!! 90% of the time it will not read my thumb print, the app works maybe 30% of the time !! These are good in theory but just $25.00 china junk I bought 2 so I’m out 50 bucks 😡

If you need to protect *very* valuable assets do not buy ANY biometric solution class 3. That is anything you find on Amazon and that costs less than 250K.Instead, if you need a deterrent (most locks are) and something practical so that you don't have to pull out reading glasses to turn wheels or rely on memory on what was the last combo you set, this is the lock for you.PROS:- Once it is set up, it just works.- Battery in all locks I have has very more than I would ever guess/expected. I saw some reviewers being unhappy about this subject but that is not the case for me. I have yet to recharge any of the locks I bought months ago and the battery indicator still over 60%- the fingerprint reader is fast to compute and works well from many angles and often I have dusty hands (outdoor) and catches it right away- you have access to the history of access which is a nice feature that a mechanical lock with similar security flaws/level wouldn't give you.ANNOYANCE/CONSCons are things that are bad, this product in my usage doesn't have any because it just does what was designed to do. Annoyances? A motherload of it and it not about the device but about the app(s). Yes, you read that right, plural. There's OKLOK and OKLOK+ both available for Android and iOS. The old app (without the +) can configure some locks, the new one is supposed to configure them all but if you already own some "old" locks you might not see some of them.Some messages are clearly translated with the worst Chinese/English translator on the planet and some appear straight in Chinese. That would not be a problem if you speak the language of course. In my case I asked a coworker for one message and for the other I overlayed Google translate to understand what was the problem.In the old app, there is no way to contact the maker so you have to go through Amazon questions or the seller. I did both and the seller although cryptically pointed to the solution. They said to delete the OLD app install the NEW one. They don't tell which is which so I figured the + bit that I described above.I designed in the past Bluetooth devices and I know how finicky a configuration can be for apps. The app does a marvelous job when you have to add a device. Too bad that if you run in the old/new app situation the message is let's just say not helpful even if in pseudo-English :-)Once it is all set up it works all as you would expect and for the money, they ask it is a very good compromise. I like it, works and I plan to buy another one soon for a new gate we're about to install.

If you read the fine print it says only mainland China mobile phone number to register also when using email they send you a 4 digit verification code when you type the code is it says (must be a minimum of 6 characters) , i contacted the company of the lock and the app developer for the lock and they were both unable to resolve the issue to any extent you cannot set this up here in Canada unless you have a virtual private network connection which convinces the app needed to use the lock that you are in china, it is useless and I'm sending it back

The media could not be loaded.  I got this fingerprint padlock to use at the gym. Set-up was super simple and the companion app works well. You can register prints via the app as well as manually unlock using the app button. Fingerprint reader works well and opens on first try of correct fingerprint while incorrect prints do not open it. Took off 1 star because it does kind of seem like the back panel could be pried off easily if you had the right tools and I'm not sure if it could be unlocked once someone had access to the internal components like that.

What kind of mental meltdown would make someone think that an outdoor lock that doesn’t work in low temperatures should be sold in Canada? Lots of other comments here stating it does not connect to Bluetooth. They are wrong. Here’s why. This lock goes into a standby mode after time and turns off it’s Bluetooth monitoring. You need to press the fingerprint scanner to get the lock to com out of standby. Then the Bluetooth will work. Now, the real question is, how useful is a remote connection when every time you need to use it, you have to be at the lock. The minds that thought this up are undoubtedly the same ones that put a lock that doesn’t work in the cold in one of the coldest climates on Earth.

The lock would not communicate with the app, so there was no way to register a fingerprint. Completely useless. Also, there was no email, support or contact info on the documentation OR on the web site in China. Contact customer service? HOW? Also, the lock was very lightweight. My guess is a 10 year old girl could break it with a plain hammer. Did not test this theory.

Programming bluetooth for others was a little difficult, but once I figured out how to do it there were no issues. Locks seems to work great with fingerprint access. I have different people using the lock and there were no issues. I have also found that using the blue tooth to operate the lock works great. I recommend this lock.
