Echo Show 8 | 2nd generation (2021 release), HD smart display with Alexa and 13 MP camera | Glacier White

This is my third Echo Show (and I’ve got a few Echo Dot units around the house too). I had 2 of the 5” versions before, one for beside my bed and, because my daughter was so enamored with it, I got her one too. I won’t go into the functionality too much, apart from to say it becomes second nature to talk to these things to get your music up, check the weather, set reminders and alarms and more. Although the complete list of things it can do is impressive, many of them you just try once - and end up just using the things you need frequently (which is still great, and becomes indispensable). I got this larger 8” screen version because I’m in a long distance relationship - I gave her my old 5” Echo Show, and got this 8” one for myself in a Black Friday deal. We now use the “drop in” video chat every day when we are apart, and even sleep together (aaaw, how cute!). This 8” version takes up quite a bit more real estate compared to the dinky little 5” ones, but the trade off is a better screen and the sound quality from the built-in speaker is better. In summary, these are great little units, comparatively cheap (vs the alternatives) and I highly recommend them

Echo show 8 has been a great product so far.My child loves the animal sound feature the most. he has come to know about many animal sounds at just 19 months old.In a way, it helps me keep my child away from screen as we can listen to amazon music even with display off (mostly rhymes). The sound is great.It has good camera and can be used as child monitor aswell. Also, when we are away from home, it can be used as a smart home camera which can be viewed on my from the Alexa app.Older children can use Echo show for their research work or to find meanings of difficult words without even using the screen and just by asking 'Alexa'.It has excellent screen size, good camera for video calls.Overall its a great product to buy.

It was very easy to set up. What I like:1. display is good being an 8 inch screen2. The sound quality blew me away the bass and clarity is amazing.3. Videos calls are clear sounding and the 13MP camera’s clarity is awesome. Despite it not having zoom.4. I like the robust feel and look and the tilting feature.5. The Silk web browser is a must have if you want to view Netflix etc and the sound and resolution quality is amazing when watching videos and listening to podcasts.What I don’t like.1. My connected ring doorbell camera view isn’t very clear and looks as though you’re looking through a fish bowl lens. The resolution could be clearer.2. The idea of creating skills to enable Alexa isn’t very successful. Most of the skills are unresponsive after tediously scrolling the list to find a match and then repeatedly trying the setup only for it to fail,3. I don’t know if it’s my WiFi but I’ve noticed my connection dropping one too many times.4. I don’t like that I can’t connect directly to Netflix, YouTube etc and have to go through echo’s silk website..,tiresome.5. I don’t like that it’s a static plugin connection and I’ve had to buy a battery powered device to make it wireless/mobile. For the price I think this feature should have been included.Overall, I think it’s an excellent addition to add to my personal home although improvements could be made.

The sound on this is really good, a nice base to it and crisp and clear for the size of speaker, ideal for my living room. Easy to set up and mess around with to your own settings. Like how it can be used as a photo frame slide show although would like it if i could get rid of the Amazon type i for that comes up on it- have tried but cant seem to get rid of that part. I have it set to show photos etc at certain times but often i have found the the unit will still show out of these times. Easy to move around to another room if you need to. Large clock thats present on the front so you can always see the time. Looks good but i wish it wasn’t such a funny angle as when you look into the room from the camera ( to see my dogs ) it points towards the ceiling, so i have had to prop the back of the until up a little. I did try a stand but this w as no different as when you angled it down more it would just topple over. Maybe it would be better to put the camera lens at the bottom of the screen instead of the top. Got it for a good price too which was even better. All in all a good unit for my purpose.

I recommend the echo 8 for its size, fits and looks well in any small space, Great sound from dual speakers which are fully customisable through built in equaliser. So many options to mention. Love Alexa control, easily listen DAB radio and surf the Internet. Control all your compatible smart devices easily. Great sharp display with easy Bluetooth connectivity. Added bonus of front facing camera. All functions linked to Alexa app for ease of control from phone.

Best Christmas present purchased. Set up simple, performance perfect and size of screen just right (don’t go any smaller), love how the camera follows

Bought one each for the kids to have that instant help on homework. Great tool for research and also fantastic sound for music. With all the features (announce) it also means i don't have to go to their rooms to call them for dinner. Great value.

I bought this as a prompt for my mum to take her medication and eat her tea. It worked well until mum got worse. It still works as a bit of a company for mum and I can set it from home to say something to mum and she'll talk back to Alexa. I can get music to play to if I need to.It was pretty easy to set up and does more than I use. My Dad would have loved it and would have asked it loads of questions.
