Topeak PanoBike Heart Rate Monitor

I have to remove the transmitter from the strap and then replace it in order to get bluetooth to connect. Works after that with no issues.

I just completed a 5 day 360 mile trip from Chicago's Soldier Field to Detroit's COMERICA Park and tested the entire TOPEAK Panobike family of products. I purchased this system as I am unable to read the screen of my small Garmin 800. I am able to see the IPHONE5 screen however. I removed my Garmin 800 in order to attach all Panobike products. Swapping before a big trip was a big mistake because I've lost a record of many of these miles and information. Each component of the entire package needs much refinement and I will rate each product separately.I've been a regular user of the Garmin 800 heart monitor and navigation system so I was spoiled. It worked each and every time in my riding over 3000 miles this year. This system fails to meet that previous standard in that original pairing took forever and must be repeated despite saving the settings. Once the heart monitor and IPHONE 5 were paired thru bluetooth it could not be sustained. I was riding and looked down to check my heart rate and that portion of the screen on the Panobike app was regularly blank. After one week it now fails to pair at all. Will be returning with the rest of this family of products except for the auxiliary battery. Leadership at TOPEAK have a potentially great family of products on their hands, but their engineers need to work out these bugs. Word of mouth on this troubled line is going to inhibit some deserved positive momentum. It's a great concept! I stopped by an REI manager two days ago to see if they were aware of anything I may have done wrong in my initial set up. I followed the directions to a T. They also have heard nothing but disappointed users and he said he was going to avoid ordering this. I would have loved to see this product line work.

Great product!Syncs right away, super duper comfortable!! I forget it's even on it's so comfortable :) IT syncs up to all the iphone apps i've tried so far. I highly recommend using the "Pear" workout app with this strap. its an amazing free app!

Good light case, very solid but light mount for the bike. Rubber cover should cover most weather.Happy with it all for road cycling. Does what it is meant to do and provides some protection for daily carry (but not throwable)

I think that the strap is the biggest weakness of this unit. I always had 100% connectivity but really struggled to get a HR reading. Replaced strap with a Wahoo Softstrap that used the same fasteners and now works 100% of the time. If you can get the two pieces cheap enough this makes a good unit, if you have an existing unit and have issues, it may just be the strap....

It was difficult to get it to pair with my iPhone 6 (about 10-15 minutes), but once I got it paired, the first 3 rides went without a hitch. Then on the 4th ride I hopped on the bike and the HR read 0. I fidgeted with hit a few minutes on the bike and it still read 0. On the 5th ride, I decided to get it to work BEFORE the ride. After 20 minutes of doing everything I could think of (closed app then reopened, moistened sensors, turned Bluetooth off then on, and finally reinstalling app), I called Customer Service. They said to try another cycling app (really!?). I opened MapMyRide, and got the HR to read within 20 seconds. What gives Topeak? Why are you putting out a product that tarnishes your reputation of having high-end, well-engineered, products? The only reason why I give 2 stars is because the chest strap is VERY comfortable.

This product is very accurate, Apple Watch and the fitbit do not comparegreat to keep my HR at that target range during long bike rides

I had to return the first Topeak HR monitor I received after only a week and a half of use. The second unit has performed flawlessly and repeatedly. I use it everyday for my commute, on the weekends for my training rides, and occasionally otherwise to monitor resting heart rate. I even used it to track a night's worth of sleep.The strap is comfortable and does not retain odors - a handwashing after workouts is necessary. I hardly notice it is in place while exercising.EDIT:Outside of the return policy time, the second unit has failed also. I knocked three stars off of this review for this reason. I will state that it connected flawlessly and easily when it was functioning. After the recent trouble, I replaced the battery, "forgot" the device, and tried to re-establish connection to no avail.I generally like Topeak products, but this one has not been satisfactory.
