Scotty #284-BK Baitcaster/Spinning Rod Holder w/ #243 Square Rail Mount, Black

I cannot tell you why I waited so long to add these to my pontoon boat. It takes about 2 minutes each to install. If you don't like the location you can very simply move them around until you are happy. I love the fact that I can pop out the rod holder and leave the base in place for when I am not fishing or to put my cover on. I am not doing anything crazy, I troll for Pike a lot and these are holding up very well. We have hooked up roughly 60 times since installing these and they are holding up great.

I mounted the Scotty "system" on my pontoon boat square rails and it has worked well. I like that most pieces are interchangeable out of the box. I have several of the sockets installed and then install rod holders or cup holders depending upon the need. I have a fish finer in one and a bait board on another.The only complaint I have, and I did not deduct a star for it, is that I do not think the attachments fit as snug into the socket as I would like. They are held in there well, but my cup holders and rods do move around a bit when installed.I use my rod holders to stow the poles out of the way when not in use or when travelling from one fishing spot to another. I have not used them to hold the rod while fishing. I am able to use this with a spinning reel and a baitcaster.

Took these out trolling for the first time. Worked perfectly. Very easy to use and install. Fits on 1 1/4 inch rails perfect.

I am happy with these holders. The security strap is easy enough to flip on and gives you the added sense of security to talk away from the rod. I had found one other brand I liked better (actually bought them and returned them), but the issue was that the holders fit into the mount facing the water, so you could potentially knock them out of the holder. These insert into the holder facing away from the water to avoid that problem. They are reasonably compact. I looked at quite a few holders, and these are the best in my opinion, second only to the ones I returned, but I'll take the security of the features of those.

Excellent product. Locks in place tight. The # 243 fit my 1 1/4'' square rail perfect. Well worth the money.Worked well for freshwater trolling straight out from side of boat. Quickly detaches from base.

These 2 piece rod holders are great-the rail mount fits snugly on the pontoon rail and the rod holder fits securely in the rail mount. They are well made and easy to use. Won't mar your rails. The holder removes easily from the mount to allow the pontoon cover to fit. We already had 1 of Scotty's rod holders and were so pleased we bought 4 more. Scotty's customer service is amazing. I emailed Scotty's and received a phone call in less than 24 hours. Very pleasant and helpful. Don't hesitate to buy these rod holders, they will make your fishing even more enjoyable.

This is a great item. I purchased two of them for both my rods and they do a great job. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they are very tight and difficult to remove the holders from the bases when packing up my pontoon. I will probably have to sand down the stem that mounts into the holder so that they won't be so difficult to remove ... other than that, they are well made and do a great job.

I like that they clamp on the railing and you don’t have to drill holes. They also lock in pretty securely. The rubber retainer strap does not look like it will last long.

Perfect for our pontoon. Does not hinder the installation of your mooring cover. Since you can get the mount separate, I purchased two of these and a spare base for a third location.
