Q: is the opening large enough to put ice in?

The opening is large enough to accept ice tray size or refrigerator made ice cubes.

Q: Is this carafe leak proof?

Not certain if it is leak proof, in the traditional sense, it looses heat very quickly compared to other Carafes I have used. The button, at the top, that opens to pour was not air tight and if it were shaken, some liquid would escape...along with the heat!

Lids break and cannot be cleaned fully.....Just want to buy NEW LID......the carafe os fine

Q: Can this pump a thin soup like tomato or zucchini? Looking for something to use for potlucks.

something like a sun tea canister(with a spigot like on a big coffee pot?) might work--it just needs to be a wide enough diameter to the spout that the soup doesn't get stuck! How about a big ceramic pitcher? good luck- Anne
