Q: We do a lot of camping at Assateague National Park (near the beach), and the ground can still be relatively sandy. Will this work there?

The stake is a little over 2 feet long. Should be long enough to get to some solid ground. Only use one attachment at a time, it'll work great.

Q: I see there is no real lock on the stake to hold the trays at the height you choose. Do they ever slide down with weight on them?

The trays do not need locks. The way the trays are made you just move them to the heights you want and they stay. The trays never slide down wherever you position them and when you cook. I used all three trays at a time and they move so nicely if I want to move them away from the fire.

Q: I have installed ours and it is outside all the time and it has rusted. How do i get the rust off and cook? Or is it ruined?

Do this all the time with out damage to the stake. Going on 3rd year with this using several times each year.
