After 3 Years is Still Working Fine
Very Reliable and accurate LIDAR ModuleI purchased this LIDAR unit in 2023 and am finally giving it a review. This is used to monitor the distance between a downhill/uphill tram and the winch building that controls the tram.I installed this lidar module in a waterproof box that has a clear plastic cover. The lidar module is used with an Arduino board and Elegoo touch screen that notifies the winch to stop upward movement when the tram is less than 3 feet from the winch building. When the LIDAR detects > 3ft the screen displays a green "SAFE" message with the distance in feet. When the LIDAR detects < 3ft the screen displays a red "UNSAFE" message with the distance in feet, turns on an alarm and stops the winch. There is a switch on the box that is for alarm only. The photos show the lidar module and the monitor that displays the distance between the tram and building.Bye the way, this lidar works through the clear acrylic cover as seen by the photo that has the clear lid closed. The photo that shows 3.61 ft was taken with the clear lid shut on the case. This unit is normally attached to the outside of the winch building from May to November.I unplug the unit and bring it inside during the winter. So the photos that show the unit were taken on my workbench.I just walked to and from the LIDAR module to show the different values and warnings. All of the items used (LIDAR, Arduino mega, elegoo monitor, waterproof box, etc. were purchased on Amazon).I have used this for almost 3 years with no problems.

Sensor excelente para navegación en ambientes dificilies
Excelente sensor. Depende tu aplicación si deseas detectar ubicaciones muy puntuales excelente. Si deseas detectar algo con una apertura amplia sería su punto debil. Excelente comportamiento en ambiente a pleno sol.

It just works. Will be buying more.
I cut the cable (I did not have a matching connector to use the supplied female - female cable), crimped on pins to connect to my ESP32, and connected it to my ESP32 dev board.Pin 1 - Red - 5VPin 2 - Blue - SDA - GPIO 21Pin 3 - Blue - SCL - GPIO 22Pin 4 - Black - GroundPin 5 - Blue - Configure - connect to Ground to use I2CLoad the TF-Luna library from GithubLoad the demo code from the library, and it ran.I mounted it to a weatherproof electrical box with 2 screws through the tabs.During testing it worked on various surfaces (walls, cloth, my hand, water level in my water barrel, even bits of lint on my kitchen floor)The results from the sensor measure up to 9 meters or 900 cmCrimping the pins gave me a bit of variation on distance measurements. I measure 10 times, average the results, and track minimum and maximum. The window was 5 - 7 cm. For example, an distance of 105 cm with a minimum of 103 cm and a maximum of 107 cmAfter soldering the pins on, the measurements are much better. The window range is down to 1 cm. For example, an distance of 105 cm with a minimum of 105 cm and a maximum of 106 cm

Works well
Works, easy to set up the code. I’ve been using it in uart mode with the rx and tx pins, but pretty sure it works in i2c mode as well. Fairly accurate, but will vary by surface.
