AWFUL!!!!
I was so excited to try these after reading the great reviews, but I couldn't get past the first bite. They are awful. Chemically small, dry, horrible taste and unfortunately very pricey and not eligible for return. Do yourself a favor and find something else.

Staple
These are a new staple in my life. I love having these for breakfast if I am hungry. They really help hold me over for the mornings. They are super soft and delicious with no aftertaste. They are a decent size as well. They are moist. They do not taste exactly like a donut, but they still have a cake like taste and texture. I love both the vanilla and chocolate. Hopefully they come out with a blueberry or something in the future. I will not be without these in my house from now on. They are the perfect replacement and only 3 points if you are WW.

Not Good.
I was really excited to try these donuts—I enjoy a lot of unexpected protein products such as pastas, cookies, and cereals. While they often taste like an approximation of the original, they usually hit the spot. This is not the case for these protein donuts. When I opened the package the smell was repulsive—almost like vanilla vinegar. The flavor was similar. The texture was cakey protein product texture, but had unexpected and unwelcome bits of material—maybe dried fruit?—throughout. I complained to my roommate who thought I was exaggerating. Then I got a text from him while I was at work—he’d tried a donut and it literally made him gag.

My 3 might not be your three
The nutritional value of this? Very good. Sneaky way to get in some extra protein in a not unbearable manner. Though less protein, I much prefer this to a shake. However, the taste leaves a lot to be desired and the texture is not easy to eat through. I'm a fast eater (left over from my caveman genes) and this took me a while to get through. I have known hunger so I hesitate to call this awful. The texture is almost like a chewy dense pound cake. There are far better tasting food/snack options out there that can get you a similar protein / calorie ratio. Seek those instead unless you're good with a 3.

Satisfying, cake-like treats
Overall, I'd say that these are preferable to real doughnuts. They have a somewhat moist, somewhat dense, cake-like texture. They taste sweet, but not excessively so. They taste like chocolate cake and smell (and leave an aftertaste) a bit like protein bar, which may be off-putting to some consumers. I do not find the scent or aftertaste unpleasant, as I perceive it as an earthy flavor a bit akin to roasted pumpkin seeds. These "doughnuts" are larger than I expected based on their having only 120 calories each. They are about the size of a real doughnut and, perhaps, heavier. This is, of course, a product made from overly processed ingredients of questionable health value - but the manufacturer is not hiding this - in fact, every "doughnut" is individually packaged and labelled with the nutritional information and ingredients. Some consumers may question the use of erythritol as a major ingredient and the main sweetener in these; on one hand, it allows the calories to be kept in check; on the other hand, it is know for its laxative effect in large amounts. My main critique is that I do not find these appealing enough to be worth $4.04 each to me (as of August of 2021). I will probably not buy them in the future, but they were interesting and pleasant to try.

Delicious without the excessive sugar (and lots of protein!)
If you're watching your sugar intake but you want a treat I'd recommend this. They're very delicious; both flavors (cake batter and chocolate) were great. If I were to compare this to an unhealthy treat, a Hostess cupcakes come to mind, which has about 30-50 more calories, twice the fat, and more than 3x the sugar. However, I do feel like these donuts are a bit pricey ($2.50 a donut), but according to my sister that's pretty how much a Quest Bar goes for. One thing I'd suggest to Jim Buddy's is to add in more dietary fiber since the bars I used to eat were high in both protein and fiber. Nevertheless, I'd be buying more of these and look forward to any new flavors they introduce.

OK texture, MEH flavor, bad chemical smell
I didn't mind the texture like other reviews said, it has applesauce in it so that's where the doughy comes from. I kind of liked it, its like a moist banana bread/dense muffin texture. Even the bland flavor I don't mind too much, it doesn't really taste like anything, certainly not cake. The biggest issue is the chemical smell of the donut/packaging inside and that the smell gives the donut a chemical aftertaste too. Or something in the donut has a chemical taste. Either way a major dealbreaker. I'm not sure if theres bad batches or they're all like this, but definitely throwing the rest of the box out. I wasn't expecting the quality of something like Legendary foods sweet buns since this is half the price, but they're pretty much inedible as-is because they just small tainted/bad.

I want to like them but just cant
This is the third flavor I’ve tried with this company, and sorry to say, but it’s hard to consider this food much less a treat for those of us that hit the gym but still like sweets and if it provides high protein that’s huge! But not at this taste cost. The taste and texture (stop calling them donuts btw mfg, they are pressed pound cake is the only thing that I can help describe these things) takes us back 20 years ago when protein bars tasted like saw dust and cardboard but you powered through them for the protein. Nowadays almost everybody’s protein, fill in the blank here, tastes good. So for these donuts to taste like chemicals or who knows what odd taste you can try and articulate, is a travesty! With all the advances today, you would almost have to be trying to make these things disgusting on purpose.

Much easier to consume than protein bars

Taste is so gross lol. How they managed to make a doughnut with a FISH aftertaste. I tried to eat one and almost vomited. Had to throw out the rest and can’t returned food item of opened box
