Very thin, spring steel.
My 10 year old grandson bought it for himself. It was broken the first day. In the products defense, it was due to him hitting something.The function of it takes a little getting used to. It flies out pretty fast and can become "unhinged". It can be put back together quite easily (see video), just be careful; it's very thin and can cut softer hands.It's a neat little gadget but be sure to warn the little ones of potential eye injury releasing it in the direction of others.

Had a good laugh
Bought this for my brother for Christmas. It’s great- has some power to it when opening. Made him watch YouTube videos and practice extending in my garage- it shot out of his hand the first use across my garage. We laughed, great times. He got home and his wife texted me to let me know they have a hole in the ceiling from him playing with it inside. Highly recommend watching videos on how to safely open! Great toy for a laugh.

You get what you payed for
This item was broke in less than a day. And when shutting it after you collapse it, the peg just popped off and the rod was pretty much useless. The flimsy metal you will need to be careful with as well, it springs apart in the slightest touch and will cut you.

I was not pleased
I was excited and I unwrapped the wand and carefully took the locking pin out and it extended quick. It was impressive. I pointed at the air a bit and tried to collapse and lock the unit. It wouldn’t budge even a few inches. I tried a bit of lubricant. Still nothing. I tried and tried and I’m done trying. I’m returning this item.

Got for my boys. Not for kids! The tension on these things are too much for kids to handle.
The tension when small is too much for kids to handle. It flew out of my kids hands and was very unsafe. Putting it back in I cute my hand pretty bad on the sharp metal edges. I took them away.
