better than most
This holder does a far better job than just a ring at holding a hand ax. WItha simple ring on a strap the ax flops around and sometimes tips out. With this holder, the ax is held in a nice upright way, high on my hip. Maybe it is a bit slower to pull it out, but I like the security, and not having my leg constantly slapped with an ax flopping around.

Very nice product. Leather isn’t terrible thick but it’s plenty thick enough to hold my hults bruk axe.
