The Nantucket Inn: LARGE PRINT

A great start to a new (to me) series!
Lisa Hodges lived on Nantucket and had done so for a long time. Now that her husband had died, and Lisa had discovered the state of their finances, she knew she needed to make a decision. Sell the house and move away from Nantucket, or turn her home into a B&B. Her son Chase, was all for the B&B and said he'd help her modify the house to keep her area private. Meanwhile Lisa's eldest daughter Kate had just arrived back home from Boston, where she'd been retrenched from her position with a popular magazine on the same day she discovered her fiance in bed with another woman. Kristen, Kate's twin, was an artist, and with a man who was separated but not divorced. Abby, Lisa's youngest, was married to Jeff and they'd been trying to fall pregnant, including rounds with IVF, and their relationship was becoming rough. As the family members, all close and loving, tried to work their way through the weeks and months ahead, changes were in the wind. The B&B saw some unexpected guests, Kate settled into life back home and Kristen had some wonderful news. But would life continue to have ups and downs on the beautiful Nantucket island? The Nantucket Inn is the 1st in the Nantucket Beach Plum Cove series plus my first by Pamela M. Kelley and I thoroughly enjoyed it. With excellent characters, normal, down to earth people, a great plot and a feel good vibe about the whole book, I can easily recommend it, and I look forward to the next in the series.

Second chances for a brighter future
The Nantucket Inn by Pamela Kelley is the first book in the Nantucket Beach Plum Cove series. After the death of her husband, Lisa Hodges discovers their financial security wasn’t there. She needs to make a decision fast. She decides to turn her house into a bed and breakfast. The lives of her three daughters are coming to life changing decisions as well. Kate, the oldest, has a wonderful career in Boston and is engaged to a photographer. Until a series of events sends her back home to Nantucket. Kristen, Kate’s twin sister, is a local artist and finds herself frustrated with her boyfriend who keeps making promises and doubts he’ll make good on them. Abby, the youngest, is happily married to her high school sweetheart. But after another failed IVF attempt, she questions if they are truly happy. The Nantucket Inn was a fast-paced, engaging story. The women are likable and relatable. I cheered for them as they stood up for what they wanted and weren't afraid to say enough’s enough. Lisa actually has four children. There is a son, Chase, who doesn’t have much of a role in this story. However, I’m sure he’ll show up with a story of his own in the series. There was a little opposition to Lisa’s bed and breakfast. Violet, a neighbor and fellow bed and breakfast owner, and I have a feeling she’ll be trouble for Lisa in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I recommend The Nantucket Inn. It is a great read for a lazy afternoon. The Nantucket Inn is available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook

Easy to Read
The majority of the time, I found this book to be entertaining. I appreciated reading about the joys and sorrows shared with Lisa's girls and could identify with her and her family. It was a really genuine and credible story.Although the plot isn't particularly exciting, its relatability keeps you interested. The book is clean; there are no explicit sex scenes, and there are few vulgarities. However, there are several grammar mistakes, and the incorrect terms were used rather frequently, which is somewhat irritating. The book is acceptable but with some updates and modifications, it might be lot better.

Wicked Great!
It's a good book. Kinda mindless, easy to read. The pages just start flying. Buying the second book in the series!

Wonderful reading
The Nantucket Inn: Nantucket Beach Plum Cove Series Book 1 is by Pamela Kelley. This book takes place on Nantucket Island, of course. It deals with the pros and cons of having a bed and breakfast as well as looking at Lisa’s family dynamics and having the reader compare those with their own lives. The book is compelling to read and is very difficult to put down; but very east to come back to and immediately become one with the story.Lisa Hodges had a decision to make - What was she to do for money? Her husband had died and left her with an enormous debt which he had created by gambling. His family knew he gambles; but they thought it was just small amounts and nothing came about with his debt that he knew. Lisa had sold everything but the house on Nantucket where she had retreated to live. She could now sell this house and contents or she could open a bed and breakfast. She chose the bed and breakfast; but had no idea how her children will react.Chase, her only son, was delighted and put his muscle and skills to work renovating and overcoming obstacles to her opening the bed and breakfast. Abby was not so delighted; but whether that was a reflection of what was going on in her marriage was something Lisa wasn’t sure of. Abby was upset with her husband not listening to her and giving her some of his time. Jeff gets angry and moves out. Abby is sure he will come to his senses or at least she hopes to because she found herself pregnant. Her oldest daughter, Kristen, is a freelance writer. She has just lost her job and her boyfriend and come home. She had first gone by their apartment and found her boyfriend in bed with one of the models he worked with. Angry, she packs her things and moved back to Nantucket to recover. Will she be able to find work in Nantucker?Kristen is Kate’s twin. She is an artist and spends the majority of her time painting. She has been going with Sean for some time. She had known he was married but separated and she kept waiting for him to file for divorce; but he hadn’t. She knew she could no longer wait for him so broke up with him. She began to paint more and spend time with her sisters and Mom.As they all solve their problems, the Beach Plum Bed and Breakfast goes into overdrive.

A predictable, dull fairy tale for a child to read
Totally predictable. No depth. Far to fairy tale like. Someone finds out their cheating boyfriend is engaged and having a baby with someone else and her response is ‘I’m ok.’ And that story line is over. It really feels like this is written by someone who is trying to become an author but not quite there yet. I bought this because I have finished everything written by Elin Hildebrand and her Nantucket books are addictive but this was a complete disappointment. Nothing here comes close to the depth, descriptions and warmth from Elin’s books. Will most definitely not be buying another.
