Yes, it will work I have thick carpet and it helps block the noise.

Q: How do you adjust the inserts that the foam is supposed to go in? I understand you can cut the foam part, but will the inserts fit my 2 foot door?

You can cut the foam to fit but you can’t cut the fabric unless you intend on sowing it. You just have to fold the extra fabric but these aren’t great and don’t really block out noise and slide off the door easily depending on if your door opens to the left or right
