Q: what kind of magnet comes with these. Bought some 60# rare earth magnets to try and they don't seem to work as well as the factory one.

I don't know how to explain what kind of magnet this is, but it was the best investment I've ever made. It works perfectly and my 20-month-old son can't open the doors at all!

Q: Wondering if these work for drawers and what the installation looks like for those?

Yes, these work great. See the video for a complete walk-through of how I installed them. For inset drawers, the included tool aids in placing the catch deep enough to allow the drawer to close. The magnets in these locks are stronger than other products, allowing the lock to still function even with a thicker drawer face. I found that most of the dresser drawers required me to mount the lock sideways (it still functions!) I also used the included screws to make these toddler-proof. For some drawers, the latch part does stick up just a little above the top of the drawer but not enough to be a problem; if needed, you could use a Dremel or a hacksaw to trim them a little.

It comes with two high power magnetic keys so hopefully you won’t lose them both. It would be very hard to open without that key
